Installing a 8375 Angus into a A500 Rev6a
« on: January 12, 2008, 06:04:17 PM »
If I am installing a 8375 Angus into a A500 Rev6a mainboard, is it a direct swap or do I have to solder\jumper anything? Any help is greatly appreciated Thanks.

Should work right away. If it forces you to NTSC and you prefer PAL, you'll have to isolate pin 41 (remove/bend socket contact, break off Agnus pin or stick some plastic strip in between).

I assume you had 1 MB chip before, otherwise there are two jumpers to change.

IIRC there are several 8375 pinouts depending on the amount of memory the chip can address, e.g. the 8375-10 that addresses 2 MB of memory and works on the A500+ hasn't the same pinout as the 8372A originally used on the A500.

It has to be a specific type of 8375 Agnus to work in the Rev6a motherboard.

318069-16 for PAL
318069-17 for NTSC

They are 1Mbyte Agnus chips. If you to use any other 8375 Agnus for 2Mbyte chip you'll need an extra PCB, MegAchip or MiniMega etc.
