OS4 "classic" crash happy
« on: January 06, 2008, 03:57:12 PM »
Who else has problems with your Amiga's stability under OS4?
My A3000UX is acting exactly like an A2000 I used to use.
I am really afraid to run programs because it's hit or miss when I run one whether it will run or Guru 80000003!  No matter what the program is.
I don't seem to have any problems as long as I don't run new programs.  If I manage to successfully start 10 programs and let them brew for a day everything is OK.
I have tested my RAM many times, and my 604e chip is merely warm, and nothing else in my Amiga is getting hot.

I run OS4 on my A3000 and it's quite stable. Check out connections and PSU.

I have tried two different known good PSUs with the same results.  I use AT power supplies.  Also note that this ONLY happens when actually starting a new program.  If it were the power supply, I'd expect it to intermittently happen all the time.

68k so far, don't know that any PPC ones have.  But, default stack is 128000.

Not that kind of trouble. I had a failed install at first, cause the PPC overheated. After getting a fan directly on to it, all started to be quite steady.

Could be bad power, memory?

I have had trouble with OS4 on my A4000T.
I think mine is relaited to the TCP stack though, I am using ioblixether.device which works just great under 3.9 but the stack crashes after a while. (with ibrowse almost always instantly, amirc lasts up to 20 minutes, Yam after a few minutes)

I have yet to try that many 68k programs and all the little programs included with OS4 run fine. (Excluding internet relaited ones)

I am still looking into whats causing it.
The computer works fine after the internet has crashed, just the net programs are locked solid.

Spec: A4000T 060/50 & 604e/233, Cybervision 64-3d, ioblix + ethernet & Thylacine. booting from SCSI drive attached to CS, DVDRW on motherboard IDE (was on a powerflyer but mehh) along with an SD card reader (for booting 3.9 :D )
