You just want these boxes to sell some Amigas "boxed" for more money or something as I can't figure how the hell your girfriend would know what is IN the box that is stacked up?

First, no it has nothing to do with boosting their value. It has to do with a safe way to store them... The original box with styros will help protect them. She doesn't care whats in the box just that it looks neat, not units loose layying around. I store my stuff that I am not using, as I have limited space to play with my amiga stuff.

Second, yes her closet does look like that.

Third, if you saw the space that I have to work with and you saw my girlfriend you would understand why I am making such an effort.

Fourth, she has made compromises recently. So its my turn... This is just the rules of a good relationship. In a way I would actually feel more secure that the equipment is protected if I had boxes for them. Right now some are in anti-static bags and some are just loose.

If anybody could help I would appreciate it... I though that maybe amigakit would have some...

The lay down the law attitude does not work in reality, its a negotiation, not an argument. With the exception of the one married guy who replied, I take it that all of you are single based on your unrealistic replies.

Tell your girlfriend to ditch any shoes or clothes she hasn't worn in more than 12 months....

and then you'll see about getting rid of the Amigas.

They can't have it both ways.

Sounds like its an organization problem. Here in the states we have container stores where you can buy pretty boxes with lables that match interiors.

Nice shelving systems, etc.

With the $65 at a clip you're willing to spend on boxes just get professional mass produced storage systems.

Yep, I'm single  :-D

When i like to have Amiga's all over the place, I do that. Not allways, but sometimes..

If I were you, I would find some boxes in the right size and make the styros myself.

Sounds like you need a man room. One room that is your domain. Beyond the door which your word is law.
My uncle has one. He decided it was the best way to keep his wife and sanity. He decorates it, the computer is in there along with the HAM radio and his other items. Basically. his play room.
My aunt has the rest of the house. Which she decorates and accessorizes to no end.

Maybe get some nice shelves to display them on or get/make your own custom boxes.

I totally agree with the man room idea. I have my "basement office", a bedroom turned computer and work area. No more gutted electronics on the dining room table.

It would be neat to find original boxes, that's true. But a nice cabinet or shelves would make a nice display for your Amigas.

Seems like you listen to her concerns. That's great. Any idea if she likes engagement rings? :-)

Hope it works out for ya!

Argo has the best solution, if you have the space. In Ham radio, we used to call those rooms "shacks" even if it was indoors :)

Not having space, and if you are in Buffalo NY, I'd go to the nearest location of a chain called the Container Store. They have boxes of all sizes to simulate original packaging, and even shelves to store them on.

Oh, and are you going to post a pic of the G-friend?

I know what you mean.  I would like nice boxes for all my systems and it can get pretty cluttered if you do not have lots of room.  You can't swing a dead cat in my house without hitting a retro computer!!  Good thing I am single.  When I bring over a girl I usually remove all the amiga and ataris from the common areas atleast!
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?

I second the man room. My girlfriend doesnt mind the computer stuff, I keep it neat, and clean up when i'm done playing. If I get married, i'll just get a 3 bedroom place and keep one room or the garage for all my retro stuff.. do what I did.. just get some plastic storage boxes and fill it up with your amiga stuff... I've got one for software and one for hardware, plus it keeps the dust out much better than an original box, and it wont tear and keeps moisture out.. I say its time for you to find her a hobby!

AND I STILL SAY "USE PLAIN CARDBOARD BOXES!" You should be able to find ones which are the right size, "AND BUY SOME SYROFOAM SQUARES AND CUT CHUNKS OUT!".

PROBLEM SOLVED!

Sorry I had to shout, but it seemed like you were not listening to me

Why does it have to be original boxes anyway, the Amiga boxes were always ugly, flimsy things. Seen the box on the "magic pack"? Or the graphics on my A500 box? Puke inducing!

Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to my "Man Room" (which until now was known as "the Studio"). That was the second best suggestion here, but obviously won't work in a small apartment.

It would be great to have a "man" room if I had the space and/or money for one (an addition to the house). In the next house this will be a consideration. In a way its partially my fault, almost 100% of my 8-bit commodore stuff has 100% original packaging and she got used to\tolerant of that stuff. When I started re-kindling my amiga collection, I was getting alot of unboxed loose equipment as opposed to the commodore stuff that was 100% complete with packaging and all.

I have not been able to locate the right size plain brown boxes for these units (always too big or too small) , so I figured if I am going to have to buy storage boxes or carboard boxes, why not try to get original packaging first. After all that is what its made for...

Wow this really sparked a debate to a degree of which I couldn't have imagined, when I originally posted. I was just looking for some original boxes to keep the peace. I guess that I touched on a sensitive subject with everyone...

If you have boxes, I'll take them...

Can't find boxes which are EXACTLY the right size? No problem.

USE A BIGGER BOX! you could store several amigas in one.

Cut styrofoam to size to stop them from moving about and getting damaged.

I had to do this recently in order to transport my collection.

@trip6

Here is the Deal................if you want to marry her...............if she is the ONE............then listen to her concerns.......Your Amiga will never find you a wife worth marrying...so the wife is more important.

However........I sold off a bunch of Amiga stuff for a woman I wanted to marry........seems to have been a scam now I don't know............but I no longer have an SX32 and FMV card and a few other goodies. I don't regret it because now I know I am willing to do what I have to for the right girl.  SO listen to her.

But here is an awesome suggestion:

Go to Target, and get nice containers..even if they are expensive (Heck you would pay $75 for a cardboard box so....)   then get them all the same size and color so it looks eally neat when you stack them and go to UHAUL or something to get that styrofoam Popcorn stuff and your good to go!
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...
