Amiga Original Boxes \ Packaging
« on: January 04, 2008, 03:21:31 AM »
I need your help... Here's the deal... I have a nice collection of amigas that my girlfriend hates, because she says they clutter things. However she doesn't mind equipment that has the original boxes and are stacked in neat piles.

So what I need is two original A1200 boxes with styros and internal box if possible and two A500 boxes with styros and internal box if possible.

If somebody has extras lying around I would gladly pay postage... I would even pay up to $75.00 per box for A1200 boxes and up to $40.00 per box for A500 boxes, if they are 100% complete with styros and internal box and in good shape.

Please help me save my Amiga collection from the wrath of the little woman... Thanks in advance.

Why does it have to be actuall Amiga boxes? Surely a suitably sized plain cardboard box will do the job?

Maybe you could get scans of the original artwork and laminate them onto some plain boxes. This would be much cheaper.

I suggest you boot your girlfriend out and tell her she has a say when you're married.

I say he sends me his 1200s and 500s for safe keeping.  :-D  :-P  ;-)

There is some good advice here.

In your relationship you have to have established boundaries. She is going to have to accept some of your (in her mind) clutter/junk/toys.

Don't end up being one of those pu**y-whipped types. It's very sad.

The art is hitting the right compromise.

Hey I am opposed to "shacking up" and I am not afraid to voice my opinions on it. :) My wife and I lived separately before we married and she doesn't complain about my 20 Amigas, 5 Ataris, 4-5 Commodore 8 bits. :P

Hey, I don't want to offend or come off rude so sorry if I do, but I notice one of two things with the statement above .i.e.  you want both with styros and internal boxes

so....

1. You just want these boxes to sell some Amigas "boxed" for more money or something as I can't figure how the hell your girfriend would know what is IN the box that is stacked up?

2. If she really wants you to have everything packed in the boxes neat as well then I say maybe she is a little too anal retentive?

Does her closet look like this??

A3000D (16mhz, 2MB Chip, 4MB Fast, SCSI (300+MB), SuperGen Genlock, Kick 3.1)
Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

@trip6

The problem with keeping the peace is that one person always ends up being the one that does. Say goodbye to your soul.

Would including some old boxes really boost the price so much that paying $75 for them in the first place would be at all justified?

Comeon guys. Give him a break here :)
If you have a spare box or re-boxed your amiga, 75$ sounds like a sweet deal. No matter what his real motives are ;)

You can PM me, as I might have a spare A1200 box up on the attic :)

First, tickle your woman untill she laughs so much she lets go of your family jewels.
Second, that is now the time to tell her to stay well away from your miggy collection.

As it's still the Xmas season, I'm not even going to charge you for that guidance.

All the best.

First, no it has nothing to do with boosting their value. It has to do with a safe way to store them... The original box with styros will help protect them. She doesn't care whats in the box just that it looks neat, not units loose layying around. I store my stuff that I am not using, as I have limited space to play with my amiga stuff.

Second, yes her closet does look like that.

Third, if you saw the space that I have to work with and you saw my girlfriend you would understand why I am making such an effort.

Fourth, she has made compromises recently. So its my turn... This is just the rules of a good relationship. In a way I would actually feel more secure that the equipment is protected if I had boxes for them. Right now some are in anti-static bags and some are just loose.

If anybody could help I would appreciate it... I though that maybe amigakit would have some...

The lay down the law attitude does not work in reality, its a negotiation, not an argument. With the exception of the one married guy who replied, I take it that all of you are single based on your unrealistic replies.
