OS4 Smashed Flat
« on: December 27, 2007, 12:21:07 PM »
Well, I received my OS4 from AmigaKit yesterday. The postal service somehow managed to smash the OS4 box flat. I guess it's not that big of a deal as the manual, disk, and the CD are intact. I bought it mostly to put on the shelf and look at since I'll probably never own a PPC card. I guess I was hoping for a nice box. We collectors are like that you know.

AmigaKit PLEASE spring for a box for overseas shipping.  Stuffed in an envelope just doesn't cut it.

-Somewhat disappointed
Jeff

Can you claim on the insurance ? Contact AmigaKit and see if something can be worked out  :-)

I also bought OS4 from Amigakit and, as in keropi's case, was packed inside a bigger box. So the original package came intact!

I think they come flat to the retailers, so they have to fold it into a box themselves. I dont really care about the box but one solution would be to send the box unfolded flat in an envelope.

I don`t know about AmigaKit, but some other Amiga shops send the boxes out flat like they got it from ACube. Just the flat foldet box like it came from the print with DIsk CD and Handbook shoved inside.
I got my two copies of OS4 in an envelope and had to fold up the boxes myself.
I must say that I was a little diassapointed too as I ordered two copies to have one for use and another one to nicely place on the shelf.
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

Pat and Jess the Cat have an important letter for Mrs McDonald's at her cottage.

But Pat is suprised that when he arrives the letter box is too small for the letter.....what am I going to do Jess now.

Hmmmmm Pat thinks. He then notices a message on the front of the envelope. "IMPORTANT PAPERS: DON'T BEND"

Pat goes into deep thought for a moment.

Hmmmm Ah...yes! Pay Says to Jess.

Pat folds the letter neatly in half and writes on the envelope. "OH YES IT DOES....!"

Pat smiles and goes back with Jess to have a nice cup of tea.

Mine came the same way, from AmigaKit.

Why were you disappointed? You still had a nice box for your shelf. You just had to put it together yourself :-)

Well lets say beeing delivered in a mare envelope insted of a firm cardbord box left it in a state that is not suiteable for a collectable :-(

i had this situation with a hyperos product. it cost me £150 and they didn't even package it nicely... squashed. i am a bit of a collector of things and it was going on my shelf. but worse than that it was an official product and it came on cdr blue bottom media for £150!

I have to say that whatever I have ordered from Amigakit.com the packaging is immaculate to the extent that it takes ages before you finally discover your items. Even the Amiga Future magazine comes bubble wrapped !

However i do understand your concern - if you see what the Postie attempts to get through my letter box I'm amazed anything survives.

Speaking of which, I placed my first AmigaKit order a week ago, Amiga Future issue 69 and it still hasn't arrived, what is the usual lead time with Amigakit?

That's exactly how the post office around here acts. I once caught a mail man gripping and squeezing with both hands and putting a huge crease down the middle of my mail so he could cram it in better. The post office manager didn't care at all when I complained. He cracked my CD! Jerks.
