Ummm....er....running all the Amiga stuff you already run on your other "wedge" Amigas?

Seriously though.  With a internal hard drive it makes a nice little computer for doing Tracker based music (ProTracker, OctaMED), MIDI sequencing (Music-X, Dr. T's KCS), or Deluxe Paint pixel animations.

The 68000 would be able to handle all of those tasks pretty well.

Of course it's also great for retro-gaming.

Then I'm afraid the A600 won't change that for you...

Lol,
But still what 'serious' things can i do on a A600? apart from whats allready been said?
Each time i see the old amiga adverts i think 'WOW!!!'
And what everyone has done on their amigas looks way kool and i havent been able to think of my Amigas apart from my A500 serious.

No offense meant, but if you have several Amigas and boxes of software, but still can't figure out what to do with them, then no Amiga (not even a big box one) is going to help you with that.

Computers are tools. You first come up with an idea then apply the tool to get it done.  The tool doesn't control you.

Well....

You should be able to put the hard drive from your A1200 in it, and that's about it. It can use PCMCIA, so 4MB slow RAM is available there, or some other dongly interface like a Squirrel (instead, not at the same time). You might replace its 68000 with a 68010 for a useful speed boost. Anything the A600 can do the A1200 does better and faster. An A500 is more expandable, and an A500+ also offers ECS. The lack of an expansion slot cripples the A600. It doesn't even have a full keyboard. And the original power supply is too weak to cope with an external floppy. It's a doorstop, imo.

gwion: idolize and love it. :-) feel the joy of simply switching it on, loading up a few programs you remember from the past and hearing the sound of its disk drive tick tick tick...

Personally, I use my Amiga mainly for watching demoscene demos and low-level retro coding. I love doing that on my Amiga :-)

Although there'll be a few who disagree with me (of course) classic Amigas have very few practical uses today. well, actually, that's a silly thing to say....it has no LESS practical uses than it had 12 years ago, the difference today is that we have 100000 times more powerful PCs/macs, etc that can do most things far better and faster.

If you don't idolize the mere sight of Amigas - they're probably not for you? ;-) But i guess you do also :)

The 600 is quite limited as it only has up to 2MB Chip.  Think of it as an upgraded 500 with a HD.  (You can add an accelerator for faster CPU and more RAM or get a SRAM PCMCIA card for 4MB Fast but those are very rare and expensive!)  So it will be limited to mostly games and some older apps, but nothing more modern like networking and web browsing, etc...  Even WHDLoad is tough as there a quite a few games that need a Fast RAM, an 020 or AGA...

You can use it for games, just get a PCMCIA Compact Flash card for it and load it up with a bunch of WHDLoad games and just keep the ones that run on a stock 600 on there and ditch the rest...

The thing is i love Amiga's for what i have seen (on the internet) what they can do and for what they are but as no amiga typer person lives close to me i get stuck and reading text isnt the same as a person helping me.
My A1200 seems slow and seems like a toy and my A600 is just cute :D
And the A500 is big and feels solid and like a computer.
I think the thing thats putts me off is the price of amiga hardware.
But i could never let any of my Amiga's go!
I'll re connect my A1200 up in a sec and play some games. I really love the music on Amiga games. Sometimes i dnt even play the games i just listen to the music.
Also does anyone know if the game 'Moonwalker' was released for Amiga.

The big box Amigas make great boat anchors, while their little wedge style brothers make for good paperweights and doorstops. Given the width of a A500 with an HD8+ attached, this combo makes for an excellent draft stopper
