SCSI Drive Setup Questions
« on: December 13, 2007, 11:13:03 PM »
So now that I have my CSMKIII back, i'd like to convert it to SCSI! I've been reading about SCSI and from what I understand, have a CD-R or Any optical drive will slow the HD down. True or untrue? Also, whats a good way to back up my IDE drive and 'clone' it for the SCSI one? I'll be using SFS on both.

Looking forward to any info you guys have!

Adding a CD-R, etc. will not slow the HD down.  Best way to copy your IDE drive to SCSI is the use COPY DH0: DH1: ALL CLONE (from memory, so test it first...).  BTW, you can get an ACard SCSIDE adapter and use the IDE drive right away.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

"Copy DH0: DH1: ALL CLONE" is correct.  I recommend "AddBuffers DH0: 9999" and "AddBuffers DH1: 9999" first (use *reasonable* numbers, not 9999).  Also, "Copy DH0: DH1: ALL CLONE QUIET" will be MUCH faster.  IF YOU HAVE PFS, MAKE SURE to set your filename size FIRST or your filenames will get wrecked!  I can't tell you how many times I'd forgotten to do that.
