Which are your favourite Workbench Enhancement tools/utilities? In other Words, which tools (visual, archiving, disk tools, icon tools command line ... etc) would you use to make your "ideal" Workbench?

MCP and DiskMaster II.  DOpus Magellan II (v5.82 I believe) crashes on my machine no matter what I do to try and fix it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and ToolsDaemon!   :-)

MCP did it all, for me.

-EDIT- Tecnicaly the best Workbench enhancement was the jump from 1.3 to 2.04

I miss 1.3 :-(

OT
If you really miss 1.3 I'll send you the disks (even the extras disks like Amiga Basic and Graphic Craft)  and ROM chip (500/2000) but you gotta send me 3.1 in return.  8-)

Very nice offer!!! but I've got 1.3 :-)

I just think that 1.3 is the very height of OS sophistication.

I remember being at an RAF airbase many years ago (about 6 or 7), and they had some super computer that filled a room, and one of the terminals had a 21 inch screen. The OS looked just like AOS1.3, I actually had to double take to confirm that it wasn't AOS1.3!!!  :-o

I install Toolsdaemon, MultiCx 2.8 (more stable and flexible than MCP in my experience) and MagicMenu in EVERY amiga I set up.  Other contenders include NewMode, NewIcons and MUI.

There are a slew of these avail. on our site, for those of you looking to add to your list on your Amiga:

DOpus M2, Magic Menus really are the main ones, but there are little ones like, Cyclemenu (or something) which are cool too. I have given up on things like MCP and MCX. both make my system unstable and I see no improvement when they do work really. Pretty pointless waste of resources.

The great thing about AmigaOS, is there's plenty to choose from!

The things that really make Workbench nice to use are Visual Prefs - you can spend hours fine tuning your desktop for a truly individual look, ReqAttack for the lovely animated system requesters and Picasso96 for displaying on a Voodoo card! MagicMenu is another essential too.

Other programs that get my vote are Birdie, Directory Opus, Delitracker, AmigaAmp, AmiNet Radio, Photofolio and noclick.  Without noclick, my Amiga would have driven me insane by now!

Absolutelybloody essential:

ToolsDaemon
NewIcons
KingCON
CyberGFX
SFS

If you don't know these, you must be some kind of Windows user.

Other very useful utilities:
XAD - a general, open-ended dearchiver. Included in OS 3.9 and MOS.
Starclick/Noclick/whatever - stops that annoying floppy clicking.
IDEFix - enables ATAPI support on Commodore's braindead IDE controllers.
ASLPatch - this has been amended in newer OS releases, but I still run OS 3.0. Haven't had time to install this OS 3.9 CD... ;-) Basically allows you to set up the default size and position for ASL file requesters.
Oh, and I've got a similar patch to make all requester appear below the mouse pointer, whose name I've forgotten.
I've also got some bauta replacement for the commands Copy, Delete, Makedir, and a slew of other C= file manipulation commands. Can't recall the name right now, but it adds such essential features as a Move command and automatic dir creation.
ARen is a very useful filename manipulation program.

Really, I use the Shell a whole lot (made so much nicer through KingCON), but using a rather conservative choice of commands, but enhanced through a lot of aliases and some scripts. I really wish I sat down one day and learnt ARexx, too. There seems to be so much potential there.

Still, the original set of Commodore tools are very competent, but sometimes they need a patch here or a replacement there, or perhaps a new datatype or filesystem, but basically, they provide a working paradigm which I really like. Therefore, most of my WB enhancements are just patches, aliases or extensions, and not any new-fangled parts. The contents of C: and S: do it for me.
