How many watts/amperes can A1000 PSU provide?
Better sorry than worry.

I used to run a half-filled CBM 2058 8mb RAM board and a Trumpcard SCSI controller off the 1000's power supply. I did use a separate power supply for the hard drive....

The A590 has its own PSU, so it will work with no trouble at all.
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

Well, no problem to modify the A590.
Then use the power from the zorro bus.

As you can see in this guide:

That sounds more like the 1200 power supply. I couldn't find a sticker on the 1000 supply I looked at, but the UL sticker on the case says 2A, which would imply something like 200W. I suspect it's closer to 100W.

Hi Again :)

Look at this picture at "The big book of Amiga Hardware"
http://amigahardware.mariomisic.de/index_e.html

I have no direct link to the picture.

Click on "Amiga models and clones"
Then on "commdore A1000"
And click "Image of A1000 with lid off, showing motherboard"

80Watt power
+5v 8A
+12v 1A
-5v 0.25V

As I can see on the picture.

Note:
This is a 220-240V power..
I'm Not sure the 110V power have same spec.. but I think so.

so, will the hack that BuzzBrain mentions work or not?
seems +12V might be problematic

Well, I gona try. :)

The A590 power have these spec:

5v 3.0A
12v .085A

And a A500 power have these spec:
5v 2.5V
12v 1A
-12v .01A

And I know you have external HD cabin outhere with HD and RAM, without external power.

So if you find a low power SCSI drive, you should be safe.. I think.

Sorry for my crap english.
