I have seen a lot of trouble with Kingston Value RAM in so far as compatabilty with other sticks of even Kingston....I was told that the Value RAM version of Kingston should not be confused as Regular Kinston RAM..

@iam

my reasons?

consistancy, cas latency, reliability,etc

I've setup a good 200 box's in the past 2 years and from my expierence Nanya for example... craps out alot... dosent pair up well...and generally has problems... the ones I listed as 'moderate' are usually fine working together but dont provide as good of stability or cas latency ... mushkin IMHO is the best ram bar none... why? (and no I'm not talking the value ram crap they sell but the real mushkin) because it dosent screw up! it has great cas latency, overclocks well (wich equals higher stability at reguler clock rate) they come with heat spreaders already on the chips and seldom if ever dosent pair nicely....

I really cant say 'as a rule' any of them are bad aside from the lower-end generic ram or maybe nanya...its pretty much a case of various questions 'does it pair well?" 'whats the latency?" 'how well does it overclock?" those type of questions....

It seems all the Value Rams are crapola why don't they just chanhe the name to Crap Ram? By putting out a Value RAM like Kingston and Mushkin I think these companies hurt them selves by having thier name on inferior RAM... :-o

Slightly OT:
Can anyone in the UK with a Pegasos tell me exactly what RAM they use, and where they bought it from.

I've tried 7 or 8 different DIMMS now, all different sizes and brands.  I'm pulling my hair out now! I've had my Peg two weeks nearly, and I can't use it!  I've been told 128MB sticks are best, but i've tried 2 that don't work.

Help!!!
 :-(

I would say

best

Mushkin
Crucial
Siemens
Corsair

moderate

samsung
kingston

bad

nanya
misc(all the cheap crap brands combined)

and thats about it...

fyi : siemens semiconductors are now called infineon, what means, if you buy ram which has the siemens brand printed on top of those ic´s, it´s either old, or  faked. :-o

can´t say much about the others, but kingston worked always fine here (sun system) and what you call "misc" works fine in nearly every x86 peecee i own.

Corsair = stable, fastest available at time of purchase, Lifetime Warranty

like kinston does :-D
