I have a few machines but no PPC.  I can afford to buy it but I think its just silly to spend $500+ on a old card that may blow and not be repairable.
PowerMac G5 dual 2.0ghz/128meg Radeon/500gb HD/2GB RAM, MorphOS 3.9 registered, user #1900
Powerbook G4 5,6 1.67ghz/2gb RAM, Radeon 9700/250gb hd, MorphOS 3.9 registered #3143

I could not afford these rare pieces of hardware when they were manufactured nor can I now.

Do you guys really think there could be a possibility for new hardware due to OS4?

Do you have a Blizzard or a Cyberstorm?

Yes, I bought a new DCE Cyberstorm (060@50/604@233) and it was nothing but trouble, it died about 18 months after I bought it. (After having it replaced three times under warrenty)
Last month I sent it to the Amiga Center in France and he says he has fixed it, fingers crossed it will arrive today. :D

When it was working I really only used it for datatype loading, playing payback and Quake and I was just starting to play around with Amp2 when it died. :(

I will give it a couple of months testing and then get OS4 if I think the card is going to last.

The inflated Ebay prices do not reflect that actual manufacturing cost to do a run of modern PPC cards using current components.

But you're wrong & missed the fact that a 604e @ 200Mhz sold for £262 on eBay only weeks ago. This is NOT an inflated price! Same {bleep} happened with a G-Rex

Having newly made PPC boards on the market might even bring some sanity back to the prices for the old PPC boards - as there wouldn't be as much demand.

This kinda contradicts itself buying a 604e for £262. It really is a buyers market on eBay. Some weeks better than others. Just depends how many people are wanting at that particular time of sale.

I understand the high prices of Amiga stuff but for me the retro-computing/collecting has always been hunting down computers for cheap or even for free.  If I had all the money of world I could buy all the computers but it wouldn't be the same thing anymore.

I always get awesome kicks when I manage to find an old and cool computer from someone attic or for free from recycling center. I have a such recycling place near to my home and I have been digging there retro stuff from piles in size of two storey houses! Dozens of C64s, Amigas, Amstrads, etc. just lying around, totally unbelievable! :-o

Of course sometimes I buy stuff in big bucks (like a new Mediator for A1200, from AmigaKit BTW!) but that is always when I have been hunting it for a couple of months or even years without results.  I paid for my BPPC + alot ram 100e and it has worked perfectly (ok at first I got some HW problems but not anymore) and I hunted it for 1½ years (to get a BPPC at reasonable price).

Damn, Amigas are like women; first you can't understand them, then you love them and then they'll leave you! :-(
I could save Aeon, but she will not come. Who will save me?

No, unfortunately I don't have any PPC cards.

However, like others have said even if I did feel the urgent need to run OS4 on something I probably wouldn't invest in one of those rare old cards at this stage.

It's just a feasibility thing - the OS4 for Classic situation would have been a different story if it happened 5,6 or 7 years ago. Now it is almost a joke.

I understand what you are saying. But after waiting all this time I'd prefer to laugh at the joke it has been rather than feel the insulted sucker that I would have felt had it never been released at all.

I got a BPPC 060/210/SCSI with BVision setup and a CSPPC 060/200 with CVision setup. currently considering scratching the BPPC setup but it has more ram than the CSPPC so kind of confused ... I placed an order for OS4 which I hope to pay for in a few days.
I believe in mt. Fuji
