So where are the ACK Amigas?
« on: November 29, 2007, 05:04:26 PM »
Looks like someone removed the "Open Letter to Bill McEwen" thread.

So where are the new ACK Amigas that were announced for the summer of 2007?

(I never actually believed they were going to be released).

Is there no truth in the rumour (Just started now by me) that there is a slight delay so they can jointly announce the New ACK Amigas and Elbox Shark PPCs?

In a fit of irony I emailed Amiga Inc off their website the question about what happened to the new Amigas.  THat was over a week ago.  Still no sign of a reply that I have seen.  Oh well.

How can a company exist that has no products, no income, no credibility, no respect for its potential customers and a negative reputation?

It's just unbelievable.  Makes Enron look like a well-run organization.

maybe someone should email Amiga pretending to be an investor with 100 million dollars and see if they get a reponse.

They are next to me, laying in my bed, alongside Pamela Andersson ;-). Oh no... that was a dream :-S

More seriously, I always read the anouncements a bit different then most Amiga enthousiasts. If I remember correctly, they only claimed to release the new design specifications, not ready made products. The only sentence I found that could lead to someone believing true Amigas are to be expected is the sub-title of the anouncement of the power level system stating Power level product ready for Customers Winter 2007.

To be honnest, more and more I tend to believe that future Amigas are to be expected from the community, like the Minimig and perhaps hacked SAM440s.
Get a SAM, while you can! The new AMIGA is here!

Several announcements had the sub-heading that the low-level board would be released by summer 2007.

I can't understand how Bill McEwen sleeps at night.  I really just don't understand it, knowing that the company is bogus, never delivers, makes hollow statements.  It would drive my conscience nuts to have to do that.  How can he get up and go to work every day, knowing the false front he has to put on.  He has kids, doesn't he?  How does he look them in the eye when they ask about what his company does?

Doesn't he go way back in the community - where at one point he was an Amiga enthusiast?  You'd think any Amiga enthusiast, when given an opportunity to run the company, would at least do *something* for the Classic community.  Heck, even if Amiga, Inc. only made replacement monitors, flicker fixers, or did support work for Classic systems they'd at least be doing *something* and could make a profit (or at least break even) which would be an improvement.

Heck, even if they just burned legal KS3.1 chips by hand and sold them in cardboard boxes with photo-copied manuals they'd be doing more for the Amiga community - and getting more support.

I won't beleive anyshit from Amiga Inc, untill it's physically in my possesion.
Given the previous comments.. makes me wonder where does Amiga Inc get money from ..?, even Bill must eat and sleep.

Otoh, maybe it's a good thing they are unable to accomplish anything. So they leave the community alone. The only catch is the copyright for KS etc. Which won't expire anytime soon.

I usually try to avoid these dead-end threads, but I'll make an exception...

Dear Ral-Clan, he (Bill McEwen, CEO of Amiga Inc) never was an Amiga enthusiast. He was hired by Gateway as an evangelist for their then-bought Amiga intellectual property (I've heard rumors, which I'd love to see better substantiated, which state that was his first glimpse of an Amiga). A SALESman basically. And what do salesmen do? Lie. That's their job. Maybe not 100% lies, but very much like any orange juice or any other fruit juice you buy in our MODERN age: mostly water, 20% or less actual fruit juice. In small type.

So guys, please don't question an obvious matter - don't beat the darned dead horse no more. If you're pissed about the lies, do something: like hack their site, DOS them, send them stinky packages, visit their "HQ" and do something spontaneous, (a-la Bill Gates + cream pie in Belgium - that would rock!) but please, don't sit here and munch out our ears.

The future of Amiga lies with these companies/projects (until something new and totally unexpected comes out of nowhere like a bat out of hell to dominate the Amiga world! :-D ):
MiniMiG
AROS
Morph OS
Amiga OS 4 / Hyperion
DiscreetFX
Individual Computers / Clone-A (Jens Schoenfeld)
Elbox
Acube
AmigaKit / Vesalia
Amiga Round Table
All our lovely forums (a.org!) and websites
Amiga shows: ATTEND them, you cheap b******s! (you = plural, not for Ral-Clan)
Amiga demo parties: ATTEND you lazy b******s! (you = plural, not for Ral-Clan)

This is a quick list and I'm sure I've forgotten some decent people, but excuse my memory and note that NOWHERE in there is Amiga Inc mentioned. That's because it ain't the future, but the demise of anything Amiga. I would have wished 10 times the evil witch Trammiel or the other greedy and incapable Commodore moron executives/business drones had held onto Amiga, or even ESCOM, or even Gateway, because they were LESSER evils than this new entity. They could at least deliver *something*.

Enough said. Save your breath, your money, your energy, and give it to the guys who need it most: MiniMiG, AROS, etc.
