Mysterious Hardware?!

On the following URL, from the AAA Expo, I noticed a strange hardware under the CDR bay :

Does anyone know what is it? I suspect a universal card reader. Is it supported by AOS4? What kind of cards may be used, and how much does it cost?

It is a compact flash / SD card drive.
This is an internal version. I have an external version on my Pegasos.
It works with any Amiga USB card with internal connector + Poseidon.

The card reader you mean is a standard today..
It connects to the USB-Port and you can use all type
of cards (CF, MemoryStick etc..)

The internal ones are about 50 Euro

The internal card reader on this photo is connected to the Spider II card sitting in the Mediator 4000Di.  Therefore it is probably Hi-Speed USB 2.0 flash card reader. I have one from Elbox in my Amiga. It also includes one USB port and one Firewire port extensions to the front panel. If you want to see how it looks, go here.

Can it be used with the Algor USB?
Is it bootable (the Algor USB has everything needed in flashrom), so I can copy the OS to a flashcard (I've read a thread for an IDE to FC convertor) and boot instantly?

I don't know if this card reader works with Algor. I use mine with Spider and Poseidon + Elbox' drivers.
Algor is the USB 1.1 controller. If this High-Speed USB flash card reader works with Algor, it will do it at USB 1.1 speed (12Mbps) only.

If you need to boot OS from flash, you can get eFlash  card. It has 1MB flash memory on board. See here.
