WTB: TRS-80 Model 100 or Tatung Einstein
« on: November 26, 2007, 08:47:53 PM »
Sorry for the non-Amiga post but I'm desperate :-) I'm looking for either a TRS-80 Model 100 or, preferably, a Tatung Einstein computer. Must be in working condition. I'm based in England but prepared to pay for international shipping. This is for a Christmas present so I need to be fast :-)

Can I take that to mean your BF is into vintage computing? Gah! I still remember to look of horror on Ex-GF's face when I brought home an Atari 2600... :lol:

I just bought a like-new TRS-80 Model 100 here...

http://www.club100.org/

Even if you find a Model 100/102/200 elsewhere, that site is a great resource for the "Model T" laptops.

I had the Model 100 uploading text files to my Amiga 3000 the other day via null modem cable (keeping it on topic!). As a journalist, I recall filing many stories "from the field" using these little laptops.

@JuvUK / mbrantley
Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I'll be sure to check those sites out.

@bloodline
No he's not actually. But the TRS-80 and the Einstein were his childhood computers and he always talks about them very fondly. So I thought since he has every modern gadget you could ever want, I would bring a piece of his childhood back :-)

Heh! Err... it's one of these.

I remember seeing them in UK shops in the early/mid 80s, then seeing them being sold off cheaply in those same shops in the late 80s... Potentially a nice machine but too expensive...

At the time, I was a Sinclair ZX Spectrum user, and one thing of interest was that the Einstein could run quite a large number of Speccy software titles via emulation.
