well, another vote for SCSI and the warpengine controller. The WarpEngine SCSI controller seems quite fast to me, perhaps twice as fast as the DCE 1230 SCSI module on my A1200T, using the same 2.1GB HDD, and 100MB Zip drives.
I had an IDE DVD burner on my A1200T, was painfully slow, and not too reliable even when only burning CD-r's....

If you have the option, stick with SCSI....

A1200T / \'060, 256MB, CD-R, OS3.9
A4000 w/ WarpEngine / 82MB , OS3.1
A4000 16MB, OS 3.9
A1200 , \'030 / 10MB
A1200 (stock)

CD32 :)

...And a very sick 4000T

I have just checked the hardware database and the gvp card has a max transfer rate of 3.58MB, surely the ide bus with a buffer add-on can match that!

don't trust those numbers. yeah an ide bus can match that but at the expense of how much cpu load ? IDE is a luxury for any 68k based system.
