OK it looks like OS4 is soon to be available to those classic users who have a PPC accelerator, but what about those who don't?

OS4 includes a 68k jit emulator so new software could be written in 68k code offering a small hope that it might run under OS3.x.

But again, what if it does'nt?

The PPC is a RISC processor whilst a 680x0 is a CISC processor, would it be possible to write a jit ppc emulator that ran on a 680x0, it might take several risc instructions and turn them into one or two cisc instructions, now I don't expect it to run as fast as a ppc but until you try you don't know what is possible, at least if it offered the possiblity of running some ppc native software (slowly) on a 68060 that would be better than nothing.

OS4 has a number of features not available in OS3.x so someone might try to add these features to OS3.
How about RTG for AGA/ECS?

I have never written a line of code in my life, but I don't see any difficulty here

It is very hard to do the translations required even with JIT.  Here is a project that did it on newer intel machines:

http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/

Even with a farly fast machine, it took a long time to boot MacOS on it.
