FS: G-Rex 4000D for Amiga 4000
« on: November 18, 2007, 06:44:26 PM »
Hi,

I'm selling a G-Rex 4000D for Amiga 4000. It's listed on ebay, as I simply haven't got the time to handle "bids" if I should sell it here.

All you people wanting it know what it is. I guess it's time for a early christmas present :-D

Have a look here.

This should go for a (very) pretty penny.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

If you want it bad enough you'll find the cash for it ;-)

Just as a notice; special payments can be accepted from amiga.org members, but nothing will be sent before full amount has been paid.

@adolescent

I hope so :-)

Is this such a desirable piece of hardware considering it is not supported by OS4?

Depends; are rare items desirable or not?

Having tried both G-Rex and Mediator, I can say that the G-Rex is the fastest of the two. So if you want speed, the G-Rex is the way to go.

Let's not forget that the G-Rex is supported by MorphOS :-)

Put it this way, I shall be bidding. I know that I wont be the winner as I dont value my Amiga experience anywhere as near as high as others, but I will have a go.

If I can collect on a couple of big-ticket invoices this week, I'll be bidding for sure.

On a political rant, at this point I could give two shyts about OS4, or anything Amiga-sanctioned (maybe a bad choice of wording considering the law suit?)

I see a lot of stuff done for MorphOS, and I appreciate the boost in hardware speed.  So that's probably the route I want to go.

Of course, I have a CSMKII and I don't have a working PPC accelerator, anyway, so all this conjecture is purely academic.

I like that the GRex has a video slot, whereas the Mediator does not.  This is irrelevant is I want to use a PCI video card, as it's virtually impossible to get hold of an AGA video slot FF/SD, let alone one with pass-through.  But I may just stick with my PIV and use the PCI slots for sound, network, and USB.

Assuming I win, of course ;)

Why didn't you wait a bit too see if it eventually gets support in OS4.

@nBit7

no docs, no support. If someone could reverse engineer it, create a Linux drivers as proof that it works and provide docs, then a driver may be possible.

If someone has a grex4000 and wants to try out he could take a look at the CVPPC registers used in linux APUS.

Will a Cyberstorm MKII work with this item?
