Gearing up to buy a SuperCPU 128!!
« on: November 15, 2007, 03:59:16 AM »
Looks like after a short break, I will be getting back to retro computing in a big way! I am abut to buy a buttload of C= and Amiga goodies, about a garage full. Of the goodies I will be keeping is a SuperCPU 128

Do we have any SuperCPU owners here?
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Have you ever seen one demoed?
Is it really as fast as it seems?

I would not mind buying one.

After 20 years I only just recently picked up another C-128D from Wiskow(I sold my first one long ago).  Sorry, I don't have a SuperCPU yet though.

I was really sorry I didn't keep at least one of my 1581's. It looks like there may be other disk alternatives now anyway.

Glad you are back Red!
Jeff

I also really like C64s/128s.

I wish I had a SuperCPU though. They are alot and hard to come by at times. I do have my c64 with a RS232 adapter which I connect to my PC and use the C64 to cruise BBS.

Also, there were a few games/apps made for the SuperCPU.

I've got a SuperCPU 64. I brought it to AmiGBG 2005 where people could play Metal Dust at my stand :-) I've written a little ray casting engine for it too, here.

edit: Added Metal Dust link.

Please pardon my ignorance but what is SuperCPU 128. I figured that its some kind of accelerator for the Commodore128 but can't seem to find any actual details about it on google.

I've been trying to get one forever, but there's always some crazy on eBay who pays over $1000 for the one for which I was bidding....

Congrats. If you have extras, I'd be glad to take one off your hands.

BTW The thread about who's craziest is answered here.
SunBlade 1000 2x1200mhz UltraSparc III+, 8GB RAM, XVR1000, 73GB and 300GB FC drives, DVD, SunPCi IIIpro - 1GB RAM (yes it does work when I set the clock back to 2009), Solaris 10.

From the Yahoo link:

"A P300 only runs about 3 times faster than a P100. A SuperCPU-C64 runs 20 times faster than a stock C64!"

I´m dazzled at the math skills presented to me, and the way it is presented..

I have not seen one in action in person, but I have read enough through the years and seen videos of them in action to know I want one. Ever since I got on the internet in the mid-90s I have known I wanted one.

I know full well direct software support is limited and I know it's limitations. Even still, this is the one piece of hardware I have wanted over any other, ever. Now if I can source a CMD hard drive, I will be set 8-)
