Is it possible to create a playlist for your music videos with the iPhone?

I record music videos directly into my laptop from the Sky music channels and convert them to MPEG-4 for playing in my N95. At 25MB for a 3 minute video the sound and picture quality looks pretty good to me. What I'm not happy about is only being able to play one video and then having to go and choose another one, whereas for MP3's you have a playlist of many. If you can have a playlists for your music videos in the iPhone, I would be even more interested in getting one.

Oh! I can use the option LOOP in the N95 if I want to watch the same video a zillion times

@bloodline
Perhaps you could use the extra 8GB for some mobile porn:

Nope... Not as I can see... But it's not a feature I would want so I've never really looked for it.

I cant really see why you want that anyway...

In iTunes you have videos in your music library, for example music videos you buy and download from the iTunes store and then show up under the artist in your music library, and you also have videos you import manually, under the "Movies" heading. If you import a video, for example your custom-made music videos, they will appear under the "Movies" section, not your music library.

You can add videos to a playlist and synchronise the videos and playlist to the iPhone, but unfortunately not videos which appear under Movies. So the only ones which will work are ones which are part of your music library. I don't know of any way to make videos appear in your music library except to buy them from the iTunes store.

[EDIT]
Correction - you can do it. Import the file in to iTunes. Go to to the Movies section and find the file. Right click it and select "Get Info". Go to the "Video" tab and change the Video Kind from Movie to Music Video. If you want you can go to the Info tab and change the artist name so it shows up under that artist. Or you could change the album name to "Music Videos" to group them together. Press OK. Then go to your music library and find the video(s). Drag them in to a playlist. Sync the iPhone and you can play them all from the playlist and it will automatically go to the next video once one finishes.
[/EDIT]

No worries, but don't get excited just yet. I have just noticed that although videos re-labelled as music videos will appear in the playlist on the iPhone and appear to play, it seems to get stuck on the first frame of video even though the audio continues. It may be due to the length or size of the file (the one I tried happened to be very long and a very large file) or the format. I'll have a play around with different formats and a shorter video and get back to you.

By the way it's really easy:

1. Turn iPhone off
2. Hold down Home key and plug in iPhone cable
3. Wait for iTunes to tell you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode
4. Quit iTunes
5. Open a terminal
6. CD to the directory where you extracted ZiPhone
7. Type:

# ./ziphone -j

8. If you get a bus error, you need to downgrade your MobileDevice.framework to the one in the ZiPhone archive then try again
9. Wait about a minute
10. Done :-D

This works with *all* iPhone firmware versions. My iPhone was 1.1.2 OTB, and I actually restored it to 1.1.3 last night, and this Jailbreak worked first time with no hassle, unlike when I Jailbroke 1.1.2!

Ok... I guess I'm gonna try this one... Just to confirm that it only jail breaks the phone... It does nothing to the radio or the network lock?

If you pass the -u parameter then it unlocks it. If you pass -a then it activates it. Simply passing the -j parameter just jailbreaks it and puts Installer.app on for you. It will not affect the baseband or unlock it.

Remember - my iPhone is locked to O2 the same as yours. I have not unlocked it, nor have I had any need to modify the baseband. I can confirm everything still works 100% after this process.

Also, the only changes this makes are in firmware. If it gets b0rked or you change your mind and want to go back, just do a restore in iTunes and it will go back to factory - i.e. no Jailbreak any more.
