but have you actually used the iPhone? I wasn't planning to get one until March... but I after 15min I wondered how I was going to live it out it..

I have. It just wasnt nice at all. What does it honestly offer that the competition does not in less space and weight?

@ Mel

Glad to see that you are still with us. BTW, you weren't wrong to call them 'in-ear headphones' as I've seen them for sale labelled as exactly that :-)

Ive been reading but have had little to contribute lately and have been very busy. At least I learned how to use the quote feature properly today - it helps when you arent using a script blocker :-)

I don't get what is so special about the N95.  Mrs. Unch and I were buying new phones yesterday and the guy in the store was trying to get me to pay extra for an N95.  As far as I could tell, it was just a slider phone with a big screen and really bad battery life.  iPhone seems to be a completely different class of device.

I'm not entirely convinced we've used the same device! If we consider the N95 as a first generation device, then the iphone is a second generation device! I can't wait to see the third generation devices!

Even when iPhone has it's obvious technical shortcomings, the single greatest blocker (for me) is the price. I could never pay such insane amounts for using a phone.

Oh yes, my phone bill for the last 6 months was 30 eur ;-)

However, the bill will probably grow due to the HSDPA capable nokia I just bought...

Where is the GPS on the iphone?  Where is the 3G?

When I came round to get my new phone I needed to get one capable of GPS, due to my current job.  The N95 is amazing in this regard.

To be honest I don't know much about the iphone, but know it doesn't have GPS or 3G.  I can't consider it anything other than an old generation phone with a nice interface.  Consequently overpriced too.

I also don't know if it has skype and instant messenger, like my N95, but I guess it must have.

The battery life on the N95 is disappointing, but I've never run flat.  May consider an iphone when it improves and becomes free on contract.  Otherwise, no chance.

I hope your N95 does GPS better than my new Mextel phone.  It's a Motorola, forget the model number.  Actually, my previous Mextel phone worked just as crappy.  The GPS almost *never* works.

Ive found Nokia phones to be fantastic. I've still got working 3330, 6600, 6680, N70 and now N95 (the best so far of course)

On the other other hand my wife was always been attracted by the "Hello Moto" adverts and had nothing but trouble with them. She couldn't even put a memory card in that Razor thing

But she has now seen the light and got herself an N95 too 8-)

We both like the iPhone but the rediculous cost of the contract and the lack of important functions like being able to bluetooth to each other, 3G and no video recording on the iPhone is the killer for us.

My Razzer lasted 8 months.  Phlip fones never last for me, but this one lasted the longest.  I had a Samsung flip phone that lasted half a day.  Another one a week.  As flip phones go, the Razzer is pretty durable.  So, I'm back to my trusty old Nokia 6010.

My new Mextel phone is a phlip phone, but, I don't put it in my pocket.  It actually has a really nice belt clip holster that keeps it pretty safe.  Of course, it's mil-spec  honestly, it's a military spec phone designed to stand up to anything our military can throw at it apparently.  I tested it by throwing it at the floor as hard as I can and it survived.

Actually the poor battery life and the fact that no one I've met has managed to get the GPS to work were what immediatelly put me off the N95 before I started looking at the iPhone. Now the web browser on the iPhone is a killer app, and it makes a great iPod too!

It doesn't (yet). But none of the features are worth the upgrade IMO, and I couldn't live without Taskbar Notifier (which won't work if the iPhone isn't JailBroken).

Ok, I guessed as much... Since I'm always using "maps" the upgrade to this is brilliant... The new gps feature is beautiful! Safari has also been improved + bug fixes, all good stuff :-) I think I'm gonna wait for the SDK in feb.

posting this from my iPhone!!  It rocks.  I am glad the price dropped down to $400.  I figured with all the $$ spent on Amiga hardware that's a fine price to pay for this awesome phone
Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?
