Go to Amigakit.com and check out the refurbished Amiga 1200, the one going for about $172. All the components listed there, that's what I plan on getting.

Will EasyADF draw too much power from the PSU? I don't think so, but then again I'm not a hardened Amiga war veteran, so I need some expert opinions on what I can and can't do with its measly power supply.

I don't intend to run a HD in it (I'm buying a box of 25 blank floppies for Workbench and NOTHING ELSE!) so that should lighten the load.

I'm not going all Mad Modder on it and turning it into a horrendous cross-breed abomination of technology and solder, and that's always a plus.

I've also lined up a nice voltage converter for it, I'm getting the NTSC model, and it's gonna be real pretty.

There are horror stories floating around of bad floppies, so  is a swap-out with an Amiga 1000 floppy feasible?

The miggy is not going to be used for very processor-intensive applications, just some games and art apps, tracker programs, and things of that nature.

There might be a Serial to PS/2 conversion in the joyport's future, that won't drag too much power if it's an optical mouse, right? Or will it even work with one of those?

Well, that's all I can think of right now, if I remember any more, I promise I'll badger you guys again in the future.

Thanks for all the support. Amiga.org has been a huge factor in my decision, and I thank you for putting up with my bull**** from the bottom of my heart.

Put a hard drive in it. Honestly. It'll take less power to run that than the floppy will draw when reading...

And a psu with 30-35W will probably suffice for the A1200 itself, it manages to run mine with 700MB HD and a 68030 card with RAM.

Yes. But why not get a US psu for the A1200?

Exactly.  Buy a junk A500 in the US, and use its power supply.  That's a cheap and easy upgrade, plus no nasty voltage conversion.  ;-)

Running a computer on a voltage computer should only be considered a very last resort.  Computers are very sensitive to power fluctuations, and most (cheap - i.e. less than the price of a dirty A500) voltage converters are crap at supplying steady, clean power.

I said it before and I'll say it again -

1. All the respectable Amiga dealers are in Europe
2. All Amiga dealers are in Europe.
3. All eBay Amiga dealers are in Europe.
4. eBay sucks.\

I already have a PSU, it's just for a Commodore 128, and I know that won't work.

Unless I can find it pre-made, I'm modding an old AT PSU and that's that.

Time to hit up the ol' Amiga Marketplace.

I got it figured out... Amigakit.com sells an adapter from AT to the amiga square port. I got it figured out.

What 44.95$ for a A500 power supply :-o 109$ for an A2000 power supply :-o And why does a power supply for the A1000 only cost 12.95$ :-?
I know Amiga hardware is a little bit more expensice in the US then in Europe but this is ridiculous.
I have given A500/A600/A1200 power supplys away for free or symbolic 3-5 bucks....
Not really interesting, but it`s there.

a1000's psu is internal. Also, I think, a lot easier to manufacture.

Off topic, but has anyone noticed that Amigakit.com seems to be down?
