Hi

When i'm dowloading these lha files or other files on this site or the amiga public domain stuff, how to i get it onto the amiga.

I have the pc to amiga cable, but dont have the software to run on the pc or the amiga.

CAn you recommend a program. SOmething simple and with a GUI would be nice, but basically something to copy files across.

I'd also like to copy from pc to amiga in bulk so i dont want to  copy files across one by one.

Thanks for all your help guys. I am reading FAQ's to avoid pestering you all but some questions I have aren't fully addressed.

Cheers

Several ways to do it:

Easiest is ftp.  You could also use a null-modem serial cable and a terminal emulator at each end.  You could also burn the data to CD on either machine, to be read by the other.   If you have Frying Pan for the Amiga, you could do the same with DVD.  Note that you do not need Frying Pan to read DVDs on the Amiga, but you do need it to write them.  If you're talking small files, just use CrossDOS.  Its also possible to set up NFS shares, or even parallel links.  If you have an A1200, there are PCMCIA flash cards you can use.  If your Amiga has USB, there are yet many, many other ways it can be done.
Primary:
A4000T. Phase5 PPC604e-233mhz/060-66mhz. Mediator, Z3 Fastlane, Voodoo5, Delfina, X-Surf, AD516, Peggy Plus.

Collection:
A4000D, A1200, A500, Milan060 (Atari clone), Atari MegaSTE, Atari TT030, C64, C128, Mattel Aquarius, (2) HP Jornada....

If you have an Amiga 1200 or Amiga 600, EasyADF Transfer Kit is the easiest way to transfer files between a PC/Mac/laptop and your Amiga.

I can highly recommend AmigaExplorer from Cloanto.
With it, the only thing you need is workbench 1.2 (or 1.3, I don't remember) on a plain Amiga 500 or 1000...
It has a step-to-step manual on how to get the transfer utility on the amiga (using a serial null-modem cable).
It even works flawlessly with current usb-to-serial converters. :-)

If the ADF is an AmigaDOS disk image, then in EasyADF you click Transfer button then select the device as the RAD RAM Disk.  The contents will be transferred there, ready to be put into the hard disk parition of your choice.

An adf is not a compressed image, or file.  It is the full replication of the floppy disk and you choose which adf's you want to be mounted in whatever emulator you are using on the Windoze machine.  For instance, you would go to the floppy drive tab in WinUAE and choose the adf to be mounted in one of the floppy drive slots.

I hope this makes sense, I am writing this from memory, not looking at any screens.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

What I want to do is copy the 200 odd adf files from my PC and put them on my amigas harddrive. Then ultimately I want to know the best way to run these adf files. Run them directly somehow or do i have to transfer to floppy then boot, or what.

Ideally i just want to play the adfs from hdd.
