Netgear FA410TX Help
« on: July 10, 2003, 11:17:26 PM »
I recently  bought a Netgear FA410TX for my second amiga 1200, I can't seem to get it working though. I've tested the card on my ThinkPad with my router(netgear RP614) and cable (patch) and it works fine.

The cnet.device lists it as compatible but all I get is the lights flashing on the dongle every other second. It never seems to establish a connection with my router.

Is there a config to use with AmiTCP (genesis version)? I haven't gone back to try it with miamidx ,never could get MIamiDX to work over my router.

Any help is apreciated.
James

I seem to remeber a that there was a problem with the 1200's card slot and it required some sort of harware fix.

I could be wrong but I'm sure some else will know the exact details.

I have one, and it works fine. No special config needed with genesis/AmiTCP. I don't have the pcmcia "fix" installed, I just insert the card after boot-up. Is your card slot OK? No bent/missing pins?

I've installed the "FIX" and if I insert the card after boot-up the amiga resets. I'm currently using a Linksys card in the slot now, Maybe board revisions or something.

Prepcard shows it as;
Netgear
FA410TX
version 4.1  Fast Ethernet

Card info shows the card up fine, but it will no link up to router I guess thats what the flashing lights mean

What version of cnet.device are you using?

Thanks,
James

Is there a way to send the card a command to lock in a connection speed say 10mbit or 100mbit? The PC has that option in its docs.

using cnet device and the software patch (also tried the insert-after-boot method, maybe its something to do with the number of "ticks" used? http://snurl.com/LANproblem
