So close to getting my harddrive working in UAE...
« on: October 19, 2007, 01:33:00 AM »
I've got the hard drive coming up on winUAE, but it's complaining that I no longer have my 1230XA card and won't boot.  I'm trying to edit the startup-sequence file to comment out what I think is the offending line, but when I try to save it I get a "volume system is write protected".

EDIT:
I got it working!  Never mind!  I created a hardfile from the disk and was able to edit the s\startup-sequence file that way :)

There was a line in there to add memory via the XA card, which wasn't there obviously.  Aside from a VERY bizarre screen mode that I had to correct it started right up!

It's just like I left it 10 years ago xD

If you have an AmigaOS installation that does work with UAE, such as AmiKit, then it might be easier to copy the HD contents to a hardfile or directory, repartition and then copy the stuff back.

Getting a HD working with WinUAE can be a tedious experience sometimes.

Use the best: Linux for servers, Mac for graphics, Windows for Solitaire.
