Using the AdIDE with a 68000 socket accelerator
« on: October 14, 2007, 01:45:05 AM »
So far I've fielded three questions about this configuration, so I thought I'd start a quick thread to explain my experience and get some other comments on it as well.

Firstly, I do not have an active system using a Derringer, MegaMidget Racer, or other 68000 socket accelerator in combination with an AdIDE.  I have been told by others that this configuration works quite well.  If anyone can confirm this, I would appreciate it.

Secondly, I can report that 1) the AdIDE *must* be under the accelerator, and 2) that the AdIDE does show up in the Early Startup menu's board diagnostics.  If you put the AdIDE in the accelerator's 68k socket, it will only be available in 68000 mode.  (This configuration may be useful, but I lack the imagination for these possibilities.)

I have an A500 setup with a MegaMidget Racer and AdIDE. It was the first Amiga I ever bought in 1988 and it was modded heavily. (No, it's still not for sale :-) )It's been on the shelf for a long while, but it always worked great for me.

I'll have to open up the old box to be sure, but I think it only had to be under the 68000 which sits on the MegaMidge now.

It's recognised early so Ami can boot from the HD. I think there was a file loaded from the startup sequence too. Now which self did I put that TS500 on....
