Ironing Out the problems
« on: October 10, 2007, 11:50:54 AM »
Since resetting up my Amiga I have been finding problems so i thought Id ask for some ideas to solving them.

First you need to know my setup so:
A1200 3.1 Roms OS3.9 6GB harddrive and Viper 060 64MB ram. Extras inc: Scandoubler/Flicker Fixer, Squirrel Scsi and CDROM + 2 External Floppy Drives

Problems
1 - If i type CLI in to execute command the machine locks up

2 - FBLIT causes messed up lines to appear in workbench when opening drives or directories. When it happens is completley random. (I was running FBLIT and BLAZEWCP but now Im just using BLAZEWCP while this problem occurs)

3 - Some WHDLoad games like to crash with error
"EXCEPTION"Access fault" ($4008)
PC = $152EE
Word Read From $E1E3B2"

Thats all for now theres more but I cant remember what they are   :-?

About the FBlit problem, I've had the same problem. It was sovled by using a newer version. Perhaps you haven't got the latest version?, I also rememeber that it had to so with something like ghosted icons? Nor sure anymore.

That's not good... Try to reinstall the file System/CLI. Prerhaps it became corrupted.

It's the icon of a non-accessible device. It appears "ghosted" on OS3.5+, but never mind about that now.

First of all, do a virus scan. Try eg. VirusCheckerII together with the latest xvs.library from http://www.vht-dk.dk/vhtdk/amiga/download.htm

Reinstalled cli and it still does the same.
However if I ouble click it the execute window appears and it works fine it only locks up if I
right click and select execute command form the menu and type cli into it

Just gonna get the Virus checking software and will let you know the outcome

Do you mean you are typing commands in to CLI? Really? Or in to the "Execute command" box? If it's the execute command box then you need to install Boing Bag 1 and 2 to solve this problem.

@folyjo: The Cli problem is a bit worrying. Since you have OS3.9, have you tried VNC Shell that comes with it? Can you use 'execute command' from the menu? Either way, I second the advice to both do a full virus check of your system, and to re-install /System/CLI ...

As for FBlit, well I never had that problem, but it did take some work getting it going. The first few times after installing it, my Amiga wouldn't boot.... be sure to read the docs very carefully.. Once you can find out what program(s) conflict with FBlit, you can set FBlit to not affect those programs, via the GUI.. (FBlit_GUI , IIRC)

Regarding WHDLoad... that 'Exception Access fault' error I have seen many times. Make sure you have the newest version of WHDLoad installed, and the newest version of the installer for that particular game... Some versions of some games just will not work on some systems, WHDLoad'ed or not...

I could never get my originals of MK2 installed....

If you are running AsyncWB, remove it and try again. It doesn't work properly anyway.

You will NOT get a proper FBlit configuration until you tweak it to death. If you don't know what to do, search this forum about it.

Ok so does it hang when you choose execute command, or when you type in the command and press ok?

it hangs as soon as I press ok after typing cli but only if I have chosen execute command from the menu

Ill explain more clearly

If I open the system directory in a window and double click the cli (not the shell icon the actual cli) an excute command window pops up saying cli. I click ok and a cli window opens

If I select Execute Command from the menu at the top and then type cli and press ok the execute command window dissapears and then everything locks up and I need to press AA+CTRL

Ive deleted the sync thing from WB Startup and now it doesnt just lock up but it resets with a guru
guru error 8006 0025

The Fblit problem has something to do with MUI. With MUI taken out of the user-startup I dont get problems
