A590 troubles
« on: October 09, 2007, 04:03:18 PM »
The harddisk won't spinup and the fan doesn't work either. It seems that +12VDC is not coming from A590PSU  :-(  (I measured +5V on two pins; does anyone have pinout? )
OTOH, RAM works fine.
What could be the cause?
Can I connect it to CD32 PSU to test?
Better sorry than worry.

Looking into rear of the A590 unit:
Code: [Select]

        u
      4   1
       3 2

    u = keyway
    1 = +5V
    2 = ground
    3 = power sense
    4 = +12V

It IS the same as a CD32 PSU and also pin compatible with C-64's 1541-II diskdrive's PSU.

If you wanted to do some soldering there is a way to make the A590 draw it's power from the A500

some info for clarification:

there is a 5V relay inside A590 psu
When a500 is powered up, powersense is 5V (negative signal for logical 0) and relay inside psu switches power to A590. Easy, and it works.
