Can I use my PC VGA monitor with my Amiga?
« on: October 08, 2007, 06:02:07 PM »
I have a Amiga 600 and would like to use it with my PC monitor. Is there some sort of cable that can join the two together?

You need an rgb(23 pin) to vga (15pin) adapter. Check out amigakit, or if you have some skill do it yourself. See aminet, i think there will be some docs.
Amiga 500: 68030@14MHz/68882@40MHz/ 5.5MB RAM/80MB HDD/Delfina FE Sound card/Kickstart 3.1/OS 3.1

Macmini 10,1 PPC 1.58GHz, 1GB Ram, 80GB HDD 5400rpm, Ati Radeon 9200/32MB, , MorphOs 3.1

PowerBook 15" PPC 1.67GHz, 2GB Ram, 250GB HDD, ATI 9700/128MB, MorphOS 3.1

But be prepared, that only workbench and system friendly apps and games can be seen with this. If you want complete solution you need a monitor with scart input, or you have to buy a scandoubler/flickerfixer unit.

NO!  The A600 does not output the correct frequency to use PC monitors for most all Amiga games and other programs.  There is a productivity monitor driver that could be used IIRC, but it would limit you to 4 colors I think.

If you can find an external scandoubler/flicker fixer, then you could use a PC monitor with your A600.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

There is some low-profile scandoublers to DIY on aminet, too.

Just remember the resulting image is sooooo ugly you think you have destroyed something. I've tryed the "PIC" version once. Man, it stinks! The version with 3 transistors is a bit better, but still stinks...

Buy yourself a professional scandoubler, or a multisync monitor, or at least a TV with a SCART connector. Those options are far better to connect your Miggy to a screen.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

You'll need an Amiga-Scart cable (rgb) + xRGB upscan converter
