Help with ROM file
« on: October 01, 2007, 10:28:17 PM »
Hi,
So I found someone who has a cover disk with a .rom file on it. It came from a magazine years ago. Is that legal enough to use with an Emulator? (I was thinking about buying Amiga Forever, but this cover disk is much cheaper)

Does the legal issues expire with a cover disk?

Or in other words, I am trying to set up an emulator for cheap, legally.

???

If the mag had a license to put it on the coverdisk, and you own the coverdisk, then it's legal. If the mag put it on the coverdisk without permission or you copy the coverdisk from your friend, then it's illegal.

It is from 'Retro Gamer Magazine'.
I am not sure if they had a license or not, you would think so, right?

Don't worry about the legality, just use it. I don't know about you but I got an awful lot of .rom files on my pc and I ain't sweating about it and I doubt many others would either.

If you want a simple get up & go the I'd opt for Amiga Forever. It has all you need in Roms & you can gt on with your games or progrms your running.

I have that issue.  It has a feature restricted copy of Amiga Forever from Cloanto on it.

It is a reputable company and will have all necessary licenses.
