ponos2d: its a strategy game ala foundation/settlers/civilization..

but its TURN based so colonization should be the best example of genere.., only thaat this is much cooler and has some wonderfull music + gfx and heaps and heaps of functions in it.

best described is.. turn based strategy/RPG and Adventure game..

check the demo out...u cant play on it really but u will get some clues on how it feels in the very first rounds... anyway where i am now compared to the demo..well i have found ALOT of more new cool stuff..

cheers..

Turn based = you do your turn , but then must wait till all other have done its turn .

every player has MAX 12 hours on to do so..
every day at 12:00 in the daytime new turns are beeiing sent out from the server.

hopefully that explains some!!

Thanks Balti. I had already installed the CD and the MOS update. Just one more question. Do my turns and/or game start the moment I register, or do I get some time to play around and learn how it works first? Unregistered, the demo is not really helpful in learning. It doesn't do much at all, in fact.

erm make that 24 hours :)

if u send in turn tomorrow after 12... it might take up to 3 days before u get the registration confirmed.

but once u have the registration u must have sent in turn by next day at NOON! (12:00)

CET time that is.

cheers

To be precise there is no "must" in sending turns.

All you really need to do is to set the green arrows in the
granary to make sure your people will be feed.

Missing even several turns won't get you killed that way
I had "cousin" (I also test the PC-Version), who when I trashed
my Win install was on "autopilot" for over 10 years.

Was still alive and kickeing after that (but killed in a war shortly afterwards).

In the first turn you should:
a) supply corn.
Make sure you could enough including the next spring turn
plus seed.

b) move your scout.
c) order research (technic is good for starters)

Optional:
Post a hello-world in the ingame tavern (mail-editor) or
the ToT-forum.
Build 2 more mills and 1 granary (in your 1st winter).
Earl Baltasar, Clanwolf of Takkatukka.
Merchant of the 2nd epoche.

Hi!

Tales of Tamar certainly is a very interesting and exciting game, if you play it properly.  The big selling point with this particular game over the other turn based stratedgy games is that you interact with REAL people and therefore you meet REAL intelligence (and real stupidity sometimes too) which obviously makes for a much more exciting and challenging game than ones which are based only on computer players.

Tales of Tamar is a very long term game, and it will take you a long long time to become powerful on Tamar.  But this is a good thing also, because it adds a tremendous and very real "risk-factor" to the game.  If you have spent months and months building your little empire, you're not going to simply throw it away carelessly, are you!!!  You will learn to be careful with whom you make friends and whom you make enemies for this very reason.

Indeed, how you interact with the other players can quite often decide your fate, good or bad!!

I am Lord Matador in the game.  Tamar's most friendly ally, and most EVIL enemy.  Watch out for me :)

@lempkee

Settings the defaults should be seen as a safety feature, in case your turn gets lost or anything like that. If you're going on holiday or are away for more than two or three days you're much better off getting someone else to act as proxy.

@KennyR

Don't worry too much about not knowing exactly what to do. There is relatively little to actually do in the first few turns, and learning about how things work is part of the fun of the game. Compare it to getting life experience in Real Life (tm).

Well, if you're that desperate for it why don't you ask Lord Gilrain to send it over?  My guess is it's just gathering dust in some store room somewhere.

Am wondering, where is a webstie for this game? Is it ungraphical, or grpahical interface? This thread got me interested...

Yes you did, but as a URL rather than a link. Some people have trouble with copy & pasting to the browser. :-)
