Help with my A600 and Hard Disk!
« on: September 26, 2007, 11:24:53 PM »
I'm having problems with my A600 and not sure what direction to go at the moment.
Basically got a Hard Disk given to me working (with WB3.0 I think) and quite obviously my 600 has 2.05 ROMs fitted and as expected, it doesn't boot at all. I can't decide weather to buy a set of Workbench disks that correspond to that ROM (WB2.0 or 2.05 or whatever it is) and install that or to go all the way and shove some 3.1 ROMs in there and get the 3.1OS set for £16.50 odd.

Any help please?

Oh plus I need a new set of LED's for it or some sort of a wiring diagram.

Thanks for looking.

If your hard disk is larger than 40MB then you will need 2.05 v350 ROMs:

Some A600s have 2.05 v300 or v299 ROMs which have problems with hard disks.

Nice to see some real Amiga big shots on here. Thanks for the info, I will have a nose around and see what exactly I have.
I am not being rude here but if it requires a particular 2.05 ROM then I think the 3.1 set-up would be miles easyer if that is the case.

Funny that my A600 have the 37300 kickstart and I use a 2Gb hd in it with no problems at all...

BUT if you have a previous ks version then you have a trouble.

Prefer to buy the newest ROM you can get, that's my advice.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Don't bother messing around with 2.05 revisions, just go straight up to 3.1

You have a PM rockape. :-)

Thanks for all the tips and help. I am more intent on getting the 3.1 disks and ROMs as I sort-of need a new set as the ones that were intent for my 1200 have corrupted badly, thanks to leaving them near a heat source.
