I'm tired of hearing the makers of SAM make unfounded promises that their board will run OS4 "soon". Their track record so far is no better than that of AKC. Either they can put up, or shut up.

And where have they made such promises? Yes, the plan was originally to have OS4 running on it, but things changed with Amiga INC terminating Hyperions license, filing a lawsuit and so on.. The only one you can blame for no OS4 are Hyperion and Amiga INC. The people who developed this board has nothing to do with OS4 development, so how can you expect them to port OS4?

I don't expect it to be ported so the question still stands....why do they show the SAM440 at an Amiga show?  It's no different than Dell or Gateway displaying a PC at an Amiga show.  Makes no sense whatsoever.  Unless of course they are following the flawed logic of "build it and they will come/buy".  That only works in the movies....i.e. Field of Dreams.

Sheesh. €489 = £341, italian VAT is 20% so really you're looking at more than £400.

Ha, running that link through babelfish gave me this gem:

"The version for PowerUp Amigas is as well as and not due to the judicial argument between Amiga Inc. and Hyperion is retarded."

Apparently the lowest spec version of the board will only come out €60 cheaper.

I got a second hand Power Mac G4/533 for £50 :-/

Does SAM run OS4? If not, then what's the point of it even being displayed at Pianeta Amiga? It has no place at an Amiga show unless it runs an AmigaOS. If I wanted Linux, I'd go to a Linux forum and buy one of the many boards out there that run Linux. I'm tired of hearing the makers of SAM make unfounded promises that their board will run OS4 "soon". Their track record so far is no better than that of AKC. Either they can put up, or shut up.

Their track record is significantly better than ACK's - they actually produced a piece of hardware that *could* run OS4 and are selling it now. One day you may realise that the world is not going to stand around and wait for OS4 to happen. We have other stuff to do and other things to be doing and enjoying. If you get your arse in a knot everytime someone releases a piece of promising PPC hardware that doesn't run OS4 or that could *get a license* (despite trying) for OS4 then frankly you aren't helping anymore than Amiga, Inc.  themselves.
