Amithlon installation and hardware

I am trying to install Amithlon on a peecee with XP and I keep getting just a bouncing boing ball on the screen.

What hardware is required for this to install properly? I am running a dual core opteron CPU with an 8800GT video card, 4GBram and about 1.5 terabytes of storage with SataII drives which is mostly taken up by video and audio concerts.

Amithlon dies a horrible death if you have more than 1GB of memory.  Try adding "mem=512m" to the the kernel's boot arguments.
