Pinball dreams killed my......
« on: September 18, 2007, 04:47:48 PM »
Pinball dreams killed my shift keys!! back in the good old days yada yada yada, my Amiga 500 used to get a right bashing on a sunday night before school.

Me and my bro would bounce that little ball around the screen and more than once frustration we would smack the shift keys, as the balls flyed between my pads and into the hole. In the end I had one keys spring gone to heaven and the other on the way out, only opening the keyboard and stuffing a folder bit of paper under it seemed to make it work.

So, if I had a terminator style time machine, I would go back and stop the developement of the Pinball series as I reckon many keys lives would of been saved and my A500 would still work.

Andy (v.bored)

PS: I hope my confession here, does not bring to many tears to Amiga lovers at the poor treatment of my Amiga, what can I say, I was young and reckless (I wish)

I've always used an A2000A keyboard for that - Cherry gold crosspoint: indestructable. :-D

Have you played Pinball Dreams or Slamtilt AGA? Pinball dreams got me hooked! I'd played all kinds of pinball gamed before that but this one was one of a kind... many followed but few where as good at that one and also it's a classic.

Slam Tilt is very good though.

However... play Pinball Dreams and you will know what your keyboard is made of ;-) :-D

You wouldn't dare!  :-P

The whole series was great, pinball illusions for the CD32 being my favorite.

 I once made an Arcade of Pinball Fantasies CD32 Version that accepted quarters and was in an Arcade Cabinet I made. Everyone loved it but it was sort of incomplete...eventually I dismantled it and trashed it (Not the CD32)

Anyway I think Pinball Fantasies is great.  But Believe SLam Tilt is quite possibly the most fun game ever made on the Amiga and most complete and arcade quality accurate.

Pinball illusions seems more realistic though, but its not about that....I usually find when a Pinball simulator is too realisitic, that it not as fun.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Dont wory guys I am fresh out of batteries for my matter time transporter right now, so going back will have to wait.

I had Pinball Fantasys and Illusions and loaded Illusions for the first time in years the other day and my wife (not computer game friendly) said, this is fun, why arnt more of your games like this and not shooting something. I guess she had a point, it does seem that alot of the games today are more about blowing something up.

Now where did I put that battery charger...

@Andy001z

Seriously, Get your wife a copy of Slam Tilt and play agianst her! this game is truly truly fun especially when you play it on a 27 inch TV or 32 Inch. It feels like a real arcade sized game because the board looks bigger on the screen.

oh and you should try playing Pinball Illusions and Pinball Fantasies with a CD32 joypad. Much Much better...but it has to be the CD32 version.  If not.......get a wireless keyboard for your Amiga (You can do this on an A1200 too) and you can sit farther away on the couch and play.

I would buy an Amiga for this game alone to to play this game alone.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Wireless Keyboard for the Amiga... how does that work. What does it interface to. Sounds interesting.

Cheers

USB wouldn't work in-game, unless you mean a USB->PS2->PS2 interface->clip over keyboardcontroller in Amiga-solution.

I agree abo. the "too much realism" bit.  My two non-amiga pinball favs. were Galactic Pinball (for the now defunct Virtual Boy) and Devil's Crush for the Turbo Grafix 16 (Now on virtual console for the Wii.  YES!!!).

Galactic Pinball had mini games within the table that did things like shoot down incoming metiors or become Samus Arian (Metroid) in her ship doing a Galiga type thing.

Devil's Crush makes the "Nightmare" table look like a barny episode...  Oh how I love my devil/lizard women in armor...

You should also try out slam tilt if you havent already. Slam Tilt was made by the same company and was way better than pinball illusions in my opinion.
Which also sadly happens to be the last good pinball game ever made for any platform.  :-(

Did you ever take a photograph of this machine? I would really like to see it.
Sad that you trashed it though...

Andy001z: wow, your original post took me back.... My dad used to have an acelerator in his A1200 with a fairly poor connection... when he would play pinball Illusions, he would bash the keys hard enough to make his machine crash!

(So glad I have a 1200 Tower with detatched keyboard )

To whoever mentioned Devil's Crush for the TG-16...  thanks a lot, now I'll just HAVE to go in the other room and play for a bit....I liked Alien Crush too, but DC just blew it away...
