You can repair damaged traces with liquid silver ("Leitsilber") - if the damage isn't too extensive.

Agreed. Apparently one of my friends repaired a A4000 keyboard with rear-window-demister paint , though expensive, it worked. Not sure if its the same as liquid silver but it sounds like it. Can be bought from a good car shop.

no, it can't be repaired, I have tried special keyboard repair kit with graphite and all.
the problem is in those two connectors, I damaged them badly.
Better sorry than worry.

A friend of mine actually repaired something like that, too. Don't remember exactly what exactly it was, but it was something very similar. He used a flat cable salvaged from somewhere, glued it on top of the membrane and bridged the contact gaps with liquid silver - don't know how long it worked, but it worked.

Given the price of an A500, you're probably best off buying and salvaging one.

yes, but well this A500 is 'special', it is my first Amiga and the only one bought new, not secondhand
I have found very similar keyboard but with German keys, Can I use its membrane? (will extra keys just be ignored?)
Better sorry than worry.

The membrane is the same for all keyboards, just the caps vary. Should do.

I am having the same problem. I've repaired a few keys with liquid silver but some traces brake under where other trace crosses over. Impossible to repair.

I am taking a different approach. See here:

Hope it helps. I couldn't as of yet make it work though.

I have build PC adapter years ago, and no PIC16F84 does not need special code its basically the same as pic16c84 (with some extra protection). schematics in Protel

I don't like the adapter (it seems to have some small delay) or PC keyboards, they don't detect multiple keypresses.
Better sorry than worry.

Hmm, looks like you have Rev5 A500...
My Tiger Edition has exactly the same keyboard membrane like yours...
