Wanted: CrossDos

Looking for a copy of CrossDOS. Need a floppy copy because I'm using an A500 with OS 1.3 which doesn't have it. Will consider any offer.

Can't help with a copy, but can advise it was on an Amiga Format coverdisk at one stage.  This was 1.3 compatible.

You could always try Messydos.  It's free, available on Aminet, and works with 1.3.  I'm sure you can find someone willing to put it on a floppy and mail it to you.  I'll do it if you're in Canada.

Another alternative that works well on KS1.3-based Amigas is MultiDOS, also free and also on Aminet.

And, for floppy-only systems, it's easy enough to copy the relevant bits on to a bootable WB1.3 disk, provided some space is cleared first (e.g. by removing unwanted or non-useful stuff).

I don't understand. If I were to use Messydos, how would I get it over to the Amiga to start with?

CrossDOS

CrossMAC

I think these both require at least a v2.04 Kickstart ROM/OS v2.x or higher, which I also have if you need them. If you do let me know and I'll list them.

@BGary335: That's why I suggested you ask someone to put it on a floppy and mail (snail mail) it to you.  Where are you located?  I don't mind sending you a disk, so PM me with your address if you want one.  I think Messydos and Multidos will fit onto one disk when unpacked.

@wildstar1063

I'm not aware of very many versions, no major ones anyways. This is probably v1.02 or something similar. I'm at my full time job right now, but when I get off work later I'll check for the exact version number.

@BGary335: If you would rather have Messydos or Multidos from Aminet, I could download and send them to you on floppy. Wouldn't cost as much as it might narmi...

Thank you all for your help. Someone contacted me with an offer for a CrossDOS disk that I couldn't refuse, so I took him up on it.  8-)

Glad to hear that.  I prefer CrossDOS myself, I only use Messydos on my old A500 with kickstart 1.3.

Yeah I prefer CrossDOS over the other ones myself, but only because I've used it before, so I can get right down to business instead of having to learn how some other program works first.
