progs from an old A500..
« on: September 05, 2007, 12:37:18 AM »
Cheers.

A small question about some software issues. I've got an A1200 running WB 3.1 with a harddrive but all the programs and games are for my old 500 without harddrive.

After reading some threads here... It says that with whdload it is not any problems running those programs and it is standard with the WB 3.1. I couldn't find the Whdload in the first place. Secondly what came in later after inserting the disks was a lot of gibberish. WB stated some booth thingy images. After accessing the disk with CLI i got the disk content up. Ran a game and it started - loaded smoothly, sound OK but everything with the graphics was garbage.

Any suggestions gentlemen on what I haven't done right?

Whdload is for installing old games on HD, that take over the hardware from the OS or poke the hardware directly. It allows you to start them from the OS and exit returning to the OS.
It also fixes them so that they work on slightly different hardware (updated CPU, gfx chip etc.).

For programs you might need to use a degrader, though I can't think of any program that doesn't have an updated/better equivalent on the A1200.
