A2286AT and floppy drives.
« on: August 26, 2007, 01:50:16 AM »
Hi to all,

I have mounted my lovely A2286AT with two floppy drives: one 3 1/2 and one 5 1/4.
The card refuse to start from the 3 1/2 drive if the 5 1/4 is installed (the drive! Not a floppy in the drive)... and I do not have any 5 1/4 floppy for further tests! :(
If I disconnect the 5 1/4 drive everything is ok and the card boots from the 3 1/2 drive.
Is this normal? Some jumper to set? I have tried all the possible combination in cable mouting and setup configurations...

Ciao and thank you

Floppy drive cables have to be hooked up in a certain order. See the ribbon twist between the 2 drive connectors? The first (boot) and second floppy have to be on the right connectors. Try to swap them and see if that helps.

I think the board itself also needs to be jumpered in a certain way if two drives are connected. The Janus software also requires some configuration.
