The sculpture was made by George W Hart.  He's made some pretty impressive pieces using CDs.  The Floppy Ball looks like it should be fairly easy to re-create and doesn't require any gluing.

Seems like the ones in the Amiga category on eBay were selling like hot cakes a few months back when I was actually interested. I kept being out bid so I gave up on trying to buy some. I found an alternative material for my bird house building hobby.
