Do you think this is as strange as I do?
« on: August 20, 2007, 01:36:13 AM »
I was going through an old box of pictures this morning (found a great shot of my A1000) and found an old Commodore Warranty card for my SX-64 purchased on 11/20/84 at the local Best Products.  That SX-64 had a serial number of:

GA1027683

I have two SX-64s at the moment so I decided to check the serial numbers.  One of my SX's, purchased on EBay 2 years ago from a town about 120 miles away is:

GA1027693

Anyone capable of calculating the odds of owning two SX-64s, 20 years apart, that appear to have been made the same day?

I told ya it was weird!

That is weird! If you wanted to calculate the probability of that happening, you would need to know how many were made each day, some details about their distribution, the probability of you and the previous owner of the two SX-64s buying those machines, the probability of the previous owner selling it, the probability of you finding the auction, the probability of somebody who might have outbid you *not* finding it.......

There are just too many variables. Suffice to say it is very unlikely :-)
