I saw this on the Mozilla webpage, and I thought mayeb if a bunch of us mail them saying we would like if they posted a link or a notice about the amizilla project, that it might help get Mozilla people interested... suggestions@mozilla.org  it goes to project coordinators I believe.

I'm actually highly skeptical of anyone actually claiming the prize. I'd like to be wrong, but realistically, I don't think anyone is going to put in the required effort to get $4000, or more realistically, a fraction of it.

My optimism left fairly early I'm afraid.

The project itself is huge, and although the idea of a cash prize for the port has it's heart in the right place, it doesn't really promote a spirit of teamwork and sharing - more of individuals competing for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

The mozilla project has quite a few people working together on it. Duplicating that amount of work on an individual, or very small group basis, seems very unlikely.

My second reason is that on first appearances it seems that the Amiga Community no longer has the numbers of interested developers to really embrace a new Open Source project.
There are existing projects that have developers (AROS for example), but are there enough around to devote to another huge project?

If there are, and they are interested in creating a complete browser for the Amiga, why hasn't the AWeb open source project seen more people? It would seem easier to fill the gaps on an existing project than to start from scratch on another.
