If you get an NTSC unit it should be 110. So you ought to be able to use an A500 PSU which is actually better.

Any A500/600/1200 will work for any voltage, if you have the proper power supply.

You just need a US voltage power supply... if youve got an old A500/600/1200 power supply it will work. I use my old A500 power supply, which is actually better than the original A1200 power supply. You can find these on ebay or ask people here... should be cheap. Just get the Amiga from there with no power supply. Also recommend no hard drive, as a 4gig drive on ebay will cost you under 10 bucks. Just get the computer, the OS 3.1 install floppies (if you dont have these already) and optionally a RAM expander (if you plan to get an accelerator, skip this... if not, its reccomended).

A US power supply will work on a European Amiga. The PSUs all convert to the same voltage.

Heya...

Last year I ordered from amigakit.  I ordered an a1200, with 3.1 disks.  I picked up an a500 from ebay, because I needed the 110v psu.

I had a minor issue with the disk set, I only ordered 5 disks somehow, I can't remember exactly what happened.  The nice folks from amigakit did send me the install disk.

I also picked up a couple of software lots at auction, so that I would have some stuff to play with.

I would also recommend that you consider the cardflash adapter so that you will be able to get additional material onto your system.

Shipping costs sucked, but everything arrived fairly quickly and undamaged.

Good luck

You are going the right way... also check http://eab.abime.net/ ..

Ebay is ok, but the best deals will be from other amiga owners on the forums.  Amigakit, while providing excellent service is the most expensive route (and you will still need a power supply and software).

I did just order some 3.1 roms from Amigakit... the price was good. But I believe because of the nature of the computer itself (hard to find in good condition) Amigakit needs to double the price to make it worth the time and money of obtaining those machines, testing, restoring and possibly repairing them.  So of course they are more expensive... but they also are guaranteed to be working.

Just keep asking and someone will undoubtedly cough one up.

Don't pay more than $200USD for one stock in GOOD condition.

Anything more than that is too much unless it comes with a lot of goodies (like an accelerator and monitor).

I'd recommend the A1200 from AmigaKit myself.  I picked one up last year and it's a wonderful machine.  All you need is a good A500 power supply, and possibly an accelerator, and you're good to go...

The 1200s on AmigaKit are expensive, but many (if not almost all) the 1200s on ebay are substantially more expensive and come with no guarantees and often in worse shape. If you can find one from a forum member and set up a trade, that is likely to be cheaper, but its not as easy to make happen. Given the choice between ebay and AmigaKit and waiting god knows how long for someone to offer you one on a forum... well, consider you options. Maybe you'll get lucky with your post or find someone who doesnt know what theyre doing putting a 1200 on ebay for $135 buy-it-now. AmigaKit is reasonably priced (damn cheap compared to ebay) and offers a guarantee you wont get from ebay.

I like the Compact Flash adapters... there are ethernet cards that work on the 1200 for under 30 bucks too.

Well, I'm not sure what happened but I went to Amigakit and selected a refurbished A1200 with no power supply of software.... the price it quoted was $168 USD.

Now thats not really a bad deal.  Not great, but if you can dig up a 2.5" hard drive and an A500, A1200 or A600 power supply, and find someone to send you some workbench disks, you'd be in business.

I have no idea what "refurbished" means though.  New case and keyboard?  White or yellow as a smoker's molar? No idea.

I think they have a pretty big inventory and are unlikely to sell out. Refurbished I think means they clean it up (as much as possible) and probably replace any minor broken bits like missing keys etc.
