WinUAE on Windows Vista Home Premium
« on: August 16, 2007, 02:50:51 PM »
Hey all, I wonder if I could get some help?

I'm trying WinUAE Online version on my Windows Vista Home Premium PC. Workbench loads up fine, but only after this error message:

"The installed LIBS:Picasso96/rtg.library (40.3993) should be updated. A newer version is included in the "Amiga Programes" directory of the WinUAE distribuion archive.

Newer library version fixes graphics problems and increases performance."

Once Workbench has loaded up, the mouse pointer does a odd 'erase' kinda glitch on screen. In other words, as my mouse moves across the top menu, it erases the words etc.

Any tips or ideas? Many thanks in advance!

That's better than what I got.  Installed WinUAE on Vista (Ultimate), and got no mouse pointer movement at all.  Not by fiddling with any of the settings could I get the mouse pointer to move.  And damned if I can remember the keyboard shortcuts to move the mouse pointer around, not after this many years of not having used a real Amiga.  =(

My short answer is: WinUAE is not compatible with Vista yet.  Probably something in the DWM, but I don't know.  Good luck, maybe you can get it to work, however...

AFAIK Toni uses Vista for developping WinUAE, so it must run at least for him. And I can say that it runs flawlessly for me, too, both on Vista RC1 32bit and Home Premium 64bit on an AMD Athlon64X2.

The rtg.library message has nothing to do with Vista, it appears on every Windows version. It means just what it says: you have installed an old version of rtg.library on your Workbench. This probably also causes the gfx glitches. Copy the new one which comes with WinUAE to the appropiate directory and you'll be fine.

Bye,
Thomas

I've copied the rtg file from the latest (as far as I know) beta WinUAE update (update 10). Is that what you mean?
