ADF files to Amiga disk
« on: August 11, 2007, 10:52:06 PM »
I have couple of ADF files on my PC. How can I transfer/convert them back to an Amiga disk?

Is there any software available which enables me to read/write an Amiga format disks on my PC's floppy drive?

There is hardware though.

Other than the expensive hardware add on for your PC, you have to transfer the ADF file to the Amiga to write it to a real disk.  This is where you get creative.

Amiga the computer for the creative mind!  :)

This is only half true. There is an elaborate way using two PC floppy drives.

You can go to Cloato's site, buy Amiga Explorer for a few bucks, buy a 'null modem' cable, and you can transfer between the Amiga floppy/hard drive and PC.

- On the PC (I use Linux for all this stuff)
Compress the ADFs with LHA. Then, format a MSDOS DSDD disk (720 KB). Copy the files on it.
- On the Amiga
Mount the disks using WorkBench -> Storage -> PC0:. Copy the adfs to Amiga HD and uncompress them. Use then adf2disk.

that's assuming you have KickStart > 2.01 and a HD. With diskettes it would be a pain.
A1200D(Blizzard 68030,32MB,Wifi,IdeFix,CDROM), A1200D(Apollo 68030,8MB),A600,A500
I maintain a site on everything, Amiga too (in Spanish)
Regards to all amiga fans!   :-)

There is an elaborate way using two PC floppy drives.

This solution is read only. It doesn't allow you to write amiga disks.

There is no software that would allow writing amiga disks on stock PC hardware.
