Efika2 - what do you make of this?
« on: August 10, 2007, 05:45:31 PM »
http://bbrv.blogspot.com/2007/08/efika2-4u.html

Genesi announcing that Efika is already getting a new revision... Efika2.

Now, considering that:

1. Morph OS hasn't even come out for the first Efika

2. Many online stores have been selling Efikas for €200 or so, only for Genesi to drop the price to USD100, undercutting all sellers with a price they cannot match

3. They are stuck with Efikas that now that Efika2 is announced, no one will buy...

What do you guys think of this?

Nothing like a bit of positive spin, eh.

Not with that ridiculous P&P they're charging: Efika $99, shipping $79...
I'd still be better off buying an Efika from Vesalia for 190€: shipping 5,50€, taxes paid - and no warranty issues overseas.

Oh btw: the p&p is just a rip off: it's much lower if you buy a complete - and much heavier - client package.

What do you do with an Efika, sans Morph OS? :D

You can do many things, but the driving concept is Compounding Development.  Look here:

EFIKA Project Blogs

Perhaps, the EFIKA is not the ultimate sales target...;-)

Best regards,

I am talking for an Amiga user's point of view  :-D

This, after all is Amiga.org.

I am also still waiting for a release of MorphOS for EFIKA.
Is MorphOS for EFIKA ever going to be released or do I turn my EFIKA board into development board for Linux/QNX/MobileGT ?

Hey, I have an EFIKA...

I'm glad to see that a second revision is being developed.

I'm running Debian Linux on mine, its pretty cool.  I hope that Morphos does become available soon though.  Linux seems a bit heavy even with a light desktop.

I live here in Canada, so mine only cost $99, and about $12 to ship.  The Canadian dollar is worth about the same as US dollar.

I'd consider purchasing the new model, but not before MOS is available.

My 2 cents...

That would run everything amiga :D

That the Amiga and clones market is not their major target? (For obvious reasons)

Yes, baseless announcements are the curse and downfall of this market - except that they have a fair rate of making them reality. Yet, considering that most MorphOS/Amiga users are still holding their breath till MorphOS 2.0 is released, I don't think it matters much... "talking for an Amiga user's point of view".

First of all this is an Amiga forum so you'd expect people to care for Amiga related stuff first and foremost....

Then, what I said is not that "baseless" .... I contacted both Vesalia.de and AmigaKit.com asking them when they will start selling Efikas at USD100, and they both said they are not able to sell their remaining stock at that price.

Maybe they were lying?
