Look what I found: Joysticks $3 NIB (slik stik)
« on: August 10, 2007, 03:08:35 PM »
Check this out guys... they have a bunch of them from a warehouse.  I just ordered 2 of them and they only charged me $6 for shipping.

Also, service was excellent... 3 emails confirming the order, the shipping, and a thank you (a real email, not automated).

Seems to be a great mom & pop shop.

Certainly a much beater deal than the joker who puts up 2 Atari 2600 Joysticks for 17$ all the time on ebay.

Yeah but the reason I like them is that they are small and they don't break like the old atari joysticks... they will last pretty much forever.

Not the most comfortable, but indestructible.. great for my 6yr old.

I don't play games long enough to get cramps from them :)

Talk about holding value!  I was buying them at $5 when they were brand new.  Your right though, they are extremely difficult to break.

When I finally did abuse one enough for it to break, I found out the funniest part of that stick.  The shaft is actually an automobile tire valve.

They must have been running short on parts.  The one I have uses a shaft of steel that was machined into a ball at the bottom.

I think he is saying that the shaft goes through an automobile tire valve... thats the rubber part around the shaft!

I love these little things... they are very easy to fix/clean when they start acting up.  Even the fire button can be cleaned if I recall.

Hmmm, maybe they ran short on parts on mine...  Mine doesn't have any rubber inside, just a steel shaft.

No rubber around the shaft under the orange ball?

If I remember correctly the rubber is what makes it spring back to the center.

Mine is set up to use gravity to self center.  The stick and top of the joystick are flat so the weight of the stick self centers it.

You sure it's not a piece of rubber compressed between the ball and the top of the joystick which centers it? Gravity wouldn't center it if the stick wasn't held perfectly level.

Unless yours has a spring in there. Maybe it's a newer version.

The TAC 2 is better, but these are excellent little joysticks. I have managed to bend the shaft before, but never totally break one.

At that price ($3/each), I bought a couple of these Joysticks as well. Thanks for the tip.
