BVision in A1200 Case?
« on: July 31, 2007, 03:07:25 PM »
I've seen quite a few successful A1200 mods that squeeze the Blizzard PPC accelerator into a standard case.  Has anyone ever heard of a BVision add-on being successfully installed in a standard (non-tower) case?  Thanks for you help!

Yes, lots of people have done that. You will need active cooling on the Permedia chip and preferably heatsinks on the other chips since this card is insanely hot running. You would also need some fan inside the A1200 case.

It can be done but to do it properly takes time and dedication.

I'm currently doing this, but it will be long before I'm done since my work and social life takes way too much of my time. I'll be posting tutorials as I progress with my project. I have already started a thread on fitting an pico sized ATX PSU inside the case to fuel the needs of those cards. Tomorrow I'll be posting the wiring from the ATX PSU end and once I'm done with the mods I will do stress tests with temperature measuring.

I have an idea for the cooling also so be sure to check out the tutorial sections in the next coming months.

I am actually in the process myself in doing this. I decided to use an external ATX PSU with a switch built in.

My compactflash adapter did not work with Amiga so I got halted. The case is so cramed a regular 2.5 inch HD wont fit.

I have:

BPPC
BlizzardVision
DCE Scandoubler (internal)
Eyetech monitorswitch (switches between AGA/CGFX with the "*" button and clips onto a small chip)
Internal DVD
Internal WIFI PCMCIA card
1.8 MB internal drive
IDEfix

So you can see it is completely full.
