Mr. Mysza drivers needed!!!
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:05:07 PM »
Hello all, I've recently been given a mr. mysza ps/2 to amiga adapter, which I'm using a 3-button+mousewheel GE USB wireless optical, with a p2/2 to usb adapter. I don't have the driver disk, though. I was wondering if anybody has a copy they could e-mail to watertonian@charter.net?

According to this page Mr Mysza is the same as Cocolino. If someone can confirm this I can send you the Cocolino driver disk as a DMS/ADF.

I think it might be the same product. I did some digging, and it looks like merclantia did the original mr. mysza adapters, but everything shows elbox having them. I noticed merclancia had a few legal probs, and I think elbox picked up the rights to it and marketed under the coclinco name. I sent an e-mail to elbox, and got a reply from them:

Not sure if it will work, but if you could send it, I'll try and post the results onto this topic. (And the 2 other forums I cross-posted onto  :-D )

I'm surprised they put anything out at all. Did the adapters come out when Haynie was there?

I don't think so. It might be true that Mr Mysza / Topolino Mk III / Punchinello Mk III are all the same. I know for sure that Topolino III and EZMouse are the same because I have both here. But Cocolino is different. The Topolino's driver is called WheelDriver while the Cocolino's is called cocolino.driver. The drivers are not interchangeable (tried it, doesn't work).

Bye,
Thomas

yeah, I've tried freewheel with no luck. It seems to need the driver just to see the middle mouse button and wheel, then uses freewhell to incorporate it.

I've gotten a copy of the Coclinco drivers from Elbox, and they don't work.  :cry: Looks like I'll have to track down the actual mr. mysza drivers... These things are a bit more rare than I thought....

As far as I know, the only driver that works with a Mr. Mysza is the driver that came with it.  I HAD* one of these devices, and I remember trying a few because I wasn't real satisfied with the performance I was getting, and none of the other drivers worked.

* I say I HAD one of these things...  I think I still do, but I can't find the hardware OR the driver disk anymore.  I either traded it for something else and have forgotten, or put it somewhere "safe" in which case, it'll be lost until at least 2058.

I should have a backup of the files needed on one of my A4000 archives, if someone knows the filenames to look for...

ETA: The place to contact might be Mr. Hardware computers, as I think they made the silly thing.

@Ilwrath

I'll check with them, too. I remember Pmailing you once about mr. mysa, and you mentioned that your 4000 wasn't doing too well. The drivers are probably in the wbstartup folder, I'm guessing.

@Thomas

Thanks for the e-mail, got the drivers, but they don't work with this adapter . Looks like it needs the actual drivers. Stuff I've checked to date:

mroocheck \
coclinco  / seem to be the same thing

TopolinoIII \
EZMouse     / (Thanks again, Thomas  :-) ) Again, seem to be the same thing

freewheel seems to be needed for any mousewheel, only with the appropriate wheel driver.

Anyway, I'm planning on e-mailing the guys @ big book of amiga hardware concerning the differences between these adapters, and (Owning companies permission allowing) submitting the appropriate drivers to them and the guy who does installer heaven. (2 sites frequently linked while googling the hell out of this project) I'm sure there's more of these things swapping about amiga users, and a new owner might need them as well. Good idea? Bad idea?

Yeah, the A4000 is currently locked in stasis, awaiting a processor card repair (which might take a while as I haven't sent the processor card off, yet... :lol:)

From the backups I found: (I have them labelled "A4000 HD0: Archive", "A4000 HD0: backup" and "A4000 OS3.5 w/ CGX 4.3"  nothing to indicate which might be the newest...  [Maybe I need to work on my filing system?])  Anyhow, the only thing interesting in wbstartup are the files "Freewheel.info", "Freewheel" (25272 bytes) and "Freewheel.cfg" (24 bytes).  In what I believe is a later version (probably when I passed the thing on to someeone else) those files are moved to my disabled.

Are these the same versions you already tried?  I also looked through my s:startup-sequence and s:user-startup and saw nothing noteworthy for the mouse driver. (although there are about a billion other hacks in there!  egads, I'd blocked from my mind what a patchwork system a modern AmigaOS becomes.  hahaha!)
