A good program to check a hard disk...
« on: July 29, 2007, 08:39:52 PM »
Hey all, I'm looking for a utility for OS 3.x so I can check a hard disk I'm using, I had a load of filesystem errors on it (SmartFileSystem 1.236) a while back, it seems to be working as normal since a re-format, but I'd like to check it before I load stuff back on there again :-)

Cheeers,

I think the SFS archive comes with some checking utilities, though I've only used the defragger. (I just installed SFS after waiting a day and a half for a 1.5GB FFS partition to validate) I don't think abtools or disksav would work, though. I think the SFS tools are cli only, too.

As far as I know amiga doesn't have any tools that perform low level checking of the disk.

Just for supposition, how difficult would one be to implement?  I maintain a collection of them for the PC.
