Anyone know what's happened to the website "Amiga In A Box"?

http://aiab.emuunlim.com and and http://www.amigainabox.co.uk/ are giving a 403 error ("You are not authorized to view this page") message. It's been this way for at least about a week, and I know it's not just me having the problem...

Same to me. Using WaybackMaschine I can access the whole page and the download links are also working. So the site isn't really down.

Well, truth be told, development stopped several years ago, however I do still put together update archives for the handful of folks that haven't switched to AmiKit.

Good to see that archive.org provides some links to the files, however these files are over two years old and far from being the most recent versions (previously available).

Unfortunately, I too am unable to access the site, nor even login via FTP to upload a new update archive (some updates including Scalos v41.5 etc.).

I have attempted to contact the admins, yet all emails bounce straight back. Any suggestions?

But Amikit changes my PC desktop - I want more functionality and all the stuff AIAB provides in my WinUAE box - not my PEEECEEE.  :-D

I think i got the wrong end of the stick for Amikit - the tag line on the website is - "turns your PC into high-end classic Amiga environment!"

Now reading the system requirements it becomes for clear!

Thanks for the info on AmiKit, that looks very interesting. Though it's still a shame about the AIAB site - the site was useful as it also had loads of additional applications and games available for download, also in a format ready for WinUAE.

(As an aside, I can't help being curious by some of the Terms of Services for AmiKit, e.g., #1 about non-military use or #3 about copying parts of the archive, given that AmiKit essentially seems to be a compilation of software by other authors? I'm wondering if this would be a violation of the licences of some of the individual pieces of software, e.g., the GPL says "You may not impose any further restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein."? I don't mean to be picky, as it's obviously good that people are producing things like AmiKit, but we should be careful of imposing terms on other people's software...)

The terms of use covers the AmiKit design, the extra value and energy put into the compiling the whole thing. The included software created by 3rd parties were included into AmiKit with the permission of respective owners. If you do not agree with the extra terms, you can always download the appropriate programs separately from eg. Aminet. I see no conflict here.

There's a conflict in distribution, but it's you who cannot distribute them trough this kind of license (unless with the approval of all authors, where the right of *distributing* it is given), you may link GPL programs separately from eg. Aminet, that is if you do not change your distribution terms.

The user is given the right to use said program already, AmiKit to distribute, so if I took those programs from your distro or say, Aminet it's outside of your scope.
